"Wii going too far? You tell Me. by D. M. Publisher Ph.D.
Amherst, MA(DDP) - Game developers at Ninendo may be going a little too far. Sources tell me that in addition to new products for the Wii Fit system, they are developing an interface and game story for bicyclists. What? did I just say bicyclists? I did. The ultimate outdoor sport is going indoors! And not on the track. Well not unless you choose that option.
Nintendo, makers of the popular Wii game/exercise system are working with manufacturers of indoor bicycle trainers to develop an automatic resistance changing system that will respond to input from the Wii console. The wireless interface has already been designed and tested. Only the auto adjusting level difficulty system is unfinished. Representatives from Blackburn, Kinetic, and Cycleops, leaders in indoor trainer technology, refused to comment when questioned. However, my source confirms that upgrades on these manufacturers devices will allow users at every level to have greater challenges while staying safe in their home.
Can you imagine completing the Tour de France in Paris? What about Paris, Texas? What about winning the mountain stages of Giro d'Italia while overlooking the mountains of Tennessee? Think you can outsprint Cancellara or Armstrong(Kristin, not Lance) in an Olympic time trial? Do you think you could win a track race against Hoy, Wiggins, or Romero? Then you go right ahead and try. And you won't have to rewind time and go to Beijing to try. Just dial it up on your new Nintendo Weeeeeee Cycling Spinner. Those are just a few of the optional courses available in this new Nintendo product.
Details on the release date are sketchy, but you can expect to find the Nintendo Weeeeeee Spinner at online retailers and local local bicycle shops nationwide by the end of 3rd quarter 2009. That will be just in time for the next winter doldrums that so many cyclists have to endure. So get ready cyclists, you too can be a great cyclists without having to take your allergy medicine!"
