Boyfriend got pressured by a friend into going to a "meeting" that could "help him physically and financially." He asked me to come along to give an opinion. We ended up listening to a multi-level marketing talk. Most of the talk was about selling memberships to others, "buying in" at different levels, etc. The product (Zrii- a fortified fruit juice) was kind of an afterthought.

My opinion is that this is a pyramid scheme and the product is involved in order to circumvent the law.

Boyfriend and I have no interest in this, but I am concerned about his friend and those that she recruits into this mess. I just spent several hours searching for some information on this. Everything out on google is a bunch of hype about Zrii and how multi-level marketing is not a pyramid scheme. They have plastered the web with ads in disguise. I have yet to see the distinction between Zrii's MLM routine and a pyramid scheme, aside from a few technical details that don't change the overall nature of the scheme.

I'm wondering. Does anyone out there have any valid information on this?

Yeah, I've been to that site and to the FTC site. This thing meets all criteria for a pyramid scheme, but they provide a "product" (some juice). But it was clear from the presentation that this isn't really about the juice.

...Honestly, who would buy 4 bottles of juice monthly for $240 ? Nonetheless, I think that's their defense against legal claims. They're going to say they sold the juice and not the pyramid.

I just filed a complaint with the FTC. This is a huge scam.
