I took my new Pinarello out the other day for the second time and afterwards stopped in the LBS that built it to tell them how much I liked it. They had a bunch of Colnago frames hanging up! I didn't know they were going to carry them!

Colnago does some awsome painting on those frames. Maybe if I hit the lottery?!?

Colnago is the TREK of Italian biking, enjoy your Pinarello... :p
Seriously, I would love to own a Colnago, they are beautiful, but I see 20 of them for every Pinarello I see so everything else equal, I'd buy a Pinarello again, unless I succombed to the temptation called De Rosa.. ;) .

Unless it was the Colnago/Ferrari with 5 spoke carbon rims I saw on Ebay a couple months ago...WOW! Sorry, no link as it was pulled because of Nigerian origin, but it was one freaking white hot bike to look at. :D

I would have figured Bianchi was the TREK of Italian bikes. I'm not bagging on Bianchi (I have four myself) but they just seem to be getting fairly common, at least in the Bay Area.

I can definitely agree with that. Plus, they're more of the "everyone" company, offering hybrids, moutain bikes, etc. In terms of what I see most (in order) it's Trek, Bianchi, Cannondale,Giant, and then a load of other brands.

Totally, I feel you there. I mean, here you are, riding this junker bike, and all of a sudden you see a real bike from the same shop you got ripped by with the Pinarello! I would seriously die if I were in the same situation! I don't know how you manage to make it through the day!

:D

You can never keep up with your carvings/want. 2 years ago I bought an entry level aluminum bike and has since poured thousands of $ on it upgrading, then a friend gave a old steel bike, I put all the spare parts on it and it wasn't a bad ride. The old steel is a crusier and since then I have build another steel, its quicker and lighter but not as fast as the aluminium bike. I have also converted a old MTB to SS so now I have 4 bikes all ride different but I hardly ride the aluminium bike anymore.

Hey, I bought a 2003 Pinarello Marvel right before the factory started to produce the 2004 frames, so I understand how you feel. I mostly look though, as I love the way my baby rides. I do agree about the painting done on some of the other manufacturers. I let my eye wander :), but as long as i don't buy one, it's ok.

I used to work with a non-cyclist Italian guy. From what he told me, Bianchi was pretty much the equivalent of Trek, or maybe even what Schwinn used to be, i.e. an entire range of bikes, from heavy clunkers to the best of racing bikes, and everything in-between. Obviously, there's no benefit in exporting Bianchi heavy clunkers overseas.
