Touring - Mounting a Road Morph on the LHT

I was wondering what you all think about mounting the Road Morph on the third water cage mount on the underside of the down tube on the LHT.

I checked the travel of the front wheel and there is no problem with turning the wheel fully side to side.

I do believe I will put some kind of wrap of the Road Morph head to prevent any crud getting in it, even though I have installed fenders.

Mine goes on the inside of the downtube with the bottle cage on top.

It's a nice fit on the third bottle cage mount. I would recommend the Turbo Morph instead of the Road Morph for a bike like the LHT, because with wider tires the Turbo Morph pumps a tire up faster (more air volume with the larger diameter barrel).

The Turbo Morph is the Mountain Morph, but with a gauge. Also, the gauge is better on the Turbo Morph than the one on the Road Morph.

I've ridden my LHT in the rain quite a bit this winter with the pump mounted there, and with the fenders I've not had a problem at all with the pump getting cruddy. It would depend on the conditions you ride in, though.

Mine doesn't fit anywhere on my bike, so it just goes in a pannier. (small bike) Are you sure you want to sacrifice a water bottle?

No need to sacrifice a water bottle, just mount the pump mount under the bottle cage, my mountian morf fits just fine on my 520.

they make a few different brackets. I like the one that uses the water bottle mount, but still lets you use the bottle cage there. If you don't have the right bracket email them they will probably send you one for free.

mine is hung under the top-tube. easy access!

I have mine kinda where 10 wheels' is, the back of the seat tube, 180 degrees from that seat tube bottle (plenty of room on the 54 in there between the tube and the fender)

On my 42cm LHT my Road Morph pump is on the back of the seat tube, between the seat tube and the fender. There is a vast amount of space there!

Thanks everyone. I do believe I will end up using a cage mount for it. I do like the seat tube mount, but it won't work. On the back, the fender is on the way. On the side like 10 wheel has it, I will be mounting a Springer Dog Jogger so that won't work. The mount for the Springer goes on the seat tube and is about 6" tall.

That dog jogger thing is so cool. I have crashed quite a few times (slowly) riding with my dog with the leash in one hand.

I mounted mine under the top-tube as well. I need all the water bottle space I can get and i kept clipping the pump when I tried posting it on the seat tube. I like it up there but I'd recommend rubber padding for those abrasive quick-ties that come with the thing, they'll scratch the heck out of the frame. I do like the other suggestion of throwing it in a pannier, that's a simple solution.

I'd suggest turning the pump over so that the handle is up and protected by the fender. Anything that gets in the pump will come through the handle part. Also, if you are going to carry it down where the smutz can get in it, cut a short piece of inner tube to completely cover the handle near the barrel. Grit will kill a pump pretty quickly.

Yup. Performance makes a mount that goes under the cage. It's made for the bigger barrel of a mountain bike pump but you can add the loopy part of velcro to shim the pump to the RoadMorph size. Use a velcro strap to keep the pump from going walkabout;)

Mine is mounted behind the seat tube. There is plenty of room between the seat tube and the rear wheel (with fenders) on the 50cm frame with 26" wheels. Not sure this placement would work on other sized frames.

It fits perfectly behind the seat tube between the seat stays.

Here's a mount going between the tube and bottle cage. It came from another pump I had. The velcro holds the pump but especially the hose. I keep the handle up so it doesn't fall in the crank. I don't mount stuff under the top tube because I need that room to carry the bike over the shoulder. I don't like the cable routing under the tube for that reason.

Another reason:

I have a RoadMorph pump too, though not an LHT. At first I thought "great, now I can mount the pump where I can get to it easily...." and mounted it on my bike.

Then I realized that every time I stopped and left the bike, to prevent theft I'd have to take it off the bike. I quickly came to the conclusion that putting it in one of my panniers is much easier and convenient (I just don't get that many punctures!). Admittedly someone could rummage through my panniers quite easily, but it would still take them a time to open them, and be much more obvious whereas a pump in plain sight on the bike seems to be tempting fate. Maybe a case of out of sight, out of mind? So now the pump goes in my panniers as well.

If you contact Topeak and ask for a pump mount that places the pump to the side of the braze-ons, Topeak will send one to you for no charge.

Blackburn makes one that fits the Road Morph just fine...unfortunately I will have to wait till I get home to post the part number.

I certainly don't have room between the rear fender and seat tube. The replies saying they have this working for them are both w/ 26" wheels. I am running 700's on my 58cm. I do believe if the fenders weren't there, the pump would fit, but the fenders will stay.
