I have Shimano SH-MO70 shoes and where i ride there is lots of water and mud and crap. These shoes have ZERO grip when im walking. Is there anything can do to modify the sole or put in some kinda of cleat like football style? I dont really have the money to buy new shoes (i will if yall cant come up with something)...thanks guys

most shoes have holes in the toes where you can screw in metal cleats.

Unfortunately, the SH-M070 does not. They are fairly entry level. I'm also not convinced that those metal toe spikes help much. I tried them once with my Sidis and didn't notice any advantages for hiking sections.

A XC race shoe will actually be a detriment.

If you find a less expensive more recreational shoe with a "not so stiff" sole, and a softer rubber, your traction and "feel" will improve.

Walking, hiking and climbing with an ultra stiff sole is kinda like walking without bending your knees. You can do it, it's just not the most efficient thing to do.

I've got some nasty weeds in my backyard I could send you. You could try transplanting them into your shoes. :D
