I finally finished my bike handlebar upgrade last week, and took it for a spin w/ just a front brake last Friday. I need to do some serious drivetrain adjustment. Tomorrow I'll cable up the rear brake, but with snow today, tomorrow morning, and then Thursday in the forecast this won't be much of a riding week. Usually 2 days after snow the roads are clear and dry enough for my road slicks...but it's snowing every 2 days! I swear next winter will see some Schwalbe Marathon Winters in my Xmas stocking.
I've been compensating with some kettlebell workouts, but it's just not the same, you know?

I feel your pain. I need to get used to a new saddle, and I haven't been able to because of the weather. Too cold, too icy, snow, too much wind..... you name it. Hiking and lifting at the gym have been my alternates. I may be buying a secondhand exercise bike and using it at home.

You and me both :thumb: At least on a semi-low racer with praying mantis handlebars I hit the ice before I know it but i'd rather not his the ice again for a long time.

Why not look for a second hand trainer. ;) You can get used to the saddle that way, too.

Shoot me if you must, but it's good to know someone else out there can't get in any riding time because of the snow.
Here in Western New York (at the eastern end of beautiful lake dreary)it's been snow and 25 mph winds and freezing rain and more snow and bitter (it was 8 degrees new years day and some of us rode..just because the sun was out and there was no wind!)cold.
I gave up.
I spend 30-40 minutes each day on the starimaster over at the gym and a mandatory 30 min on the rollers each day.
And I wait for....spring.

5 miles today, test-riding the new bike setup. I only hit one slushy ice patch that I saw well ahead of time, so no problem. Tomorrow will be single-digit windchills, followed by much colder weather, so I think this is it til next week!

Where's that infraction button?
Isn't there a guideline about crowing about 80 degree weather to us frozen Northerners? :p

All this anti snow talk.. I have always always looked forward to snow. When I was a kid it meant pickup football. We would schedule my birthday party to make sure there was snow on the ground because we'd play football on the far back yard. Screw presents I wanted snow football.
This is a pic from my first snow commute all those many years ago. Just about the only thing I miss about riding up north.

Black ice was such a problem I always had studs from october/november to march/april.
