This week is all about weight maintenance. I was really surprised to see that I dropped 2 pounds last week. Maybe I shouldn't have been after the weekend 2 ride sufferfest.

So:
3 trainer rides, Mon, Wed, and Friday. 1 hour today, 2 hours each of the other days.
1 road ride over the weekend.
I've got a handle on portions, but still need to drink more water and less coffee. *sigh* That's so tough. I love coffee!

Today's weight 216.5I had a good week. I managed to get to the gym and swim 4 days, I rode outside 2 days, and on the rollers all the other days. My son's B-day party was on Saturday so I kind of blew it with cake and Pizza but I still lost weight for the week.

This week I plan to increase the length of my rides indoors and out. I want to ride 3x outside. Also continue to increase my swimming distance, and go to the gym at least 4 days.

Down three more pounds this week. I was diagnosed with Diabetes a few weeks ago so I now have a big incentive to lose weight. 15 pounds total since Christmas. Thus far I've been perfect in sticking to my eating plan and daily exercise.

Goals for this week:
Weight training Mon-Wed-Fri
45 minutes on Stairmaster* Tue-Thu-Sat-Sun
Stick to diet
Replace Diet Pepsi with water

* Specialized Roubaix is on order and I can't wait.....

It's time for me to get serious about what kind of food I'm eating. I do it pretty well at breakfast and lunch, but dinner has been the dealbreaker. Fiancee and I have both been lazy about cooking, and that's had an impact on what we eat. If I can get down to close to where I am supposed to be in terms of WW food points (caloric intake), I can completely nail the weightloss thing, because I have been all over my exercise plan.

My goals are 6 days of exercise, and stay as close to planned exercises as possible.
No more than 50 points of food (2500 calories) in a day, even with heavy workouts.
increase more upper body exercise into the plan (strength and crosstrain days)

Begin looking for an indoor pool with inexpensive access

I'll have an 'official' weight for me tonight after the gym. **235.5lbs**
Goals for the week: conservative on loss, 2lbs maybe, depending on weather. I have a busy work week.
Gym on
Mon (5k fast run strength)
Tues(5k regular run and bike)
Thurs (1 mile run and 45 mins bike hills. Strength)
Fri (run 1, Bike 30 and strength)
Sun. (whatever day-maybe a swim and a run)

Hopefully my lights get here fast and I can get a commute in, which is 10 miles each way. If weather cooperates, a ride on Sat too.

Standard food control and logging.no more than 1800 cal / day.

I need help! How do I participate? I'm at 268 and I need to get to 215 to 220. I'm increasing my riding slowly but surely but I need a diet plan. Before cycling I had some success with South Beach but low carbs don't make much sense with cycling I'm looking for a new plan and participating here might be my best bet.

Aah, Missbumble, I'll never be the biggest loser. Maybe one day I could be the most consistent, but that's about the best I can hope for.

Last week was a dismal failure. Pinched a nerve in my neck and had a headache until I could get to the chiropractor. So I'm in better shape now, walking upright, and have high hopes for this week!

So again:
drink more water, less soda
take lunches --cafe food is too fattening
commute at least 3 X plus Sat & Sun rides

Goal: -1 lb.

Sorry I missed last week....

Goals for this week: Keep it off and ride every chance I can.

I failed to weigh in last week... 342.4 was my weight yesterday before bed when I got the battery set in the scale correctly.

I got my new ride - 2007 Jamis Nova... got my pedals on the new ride, and discovered that the left shifter is broken, so I have to send it in for warranty. Instead of the trainer then, my goal is the gym four days this week and my pushups and situps by the schedule.

I was pretty surprised to see my weight last night at 342. well, I was surprised and I wasn't. I have fallen into the age old trap of pretending that I'm doing things and working towards a lower body weight and healthier situation when I haven't really at all. I did a few nights on the trainer; I've been doing the hundredpushups.com pushups (my max was 8, my most I've done in a single night is 27 total in 5 sets); I even got out for a 21 mile ride this weekend with my brother... But I had a couple beers with some friends once last week and had some wine and a few beers Friday night and Saturday night with the wife, have not been eating well at all.

I contemplated today on what it meant for me right now that last year at New Year's I pledged to get things under control, and weighed in a 342.6 on Jan 1, 2008. I had seven very good weeks of fitness and eating well, and then let everything slip away in a false sense of accomplishment at having lost 25 pounds.

So where am I now? 342.4 pounds. I have good health, I am only 25 years old (26 in a few weeks), with a beautiful wife who loves me, and the most supportive family around. So let's f-ing do it already and quit talking about it.

I'm going to get to the gym and do the elliptical for a few weeks so I can get myself in good enough shape to do well in the spinning classes; I'm going to count my calories out and eat well day in and day out; and I'm going to get my damn bike fixed so I can let you all know if, in fact, steel is real.

There we go.

Official weight for this mondays weigh in is 266. Down about a pound. I spent most of the week getting the bike ready for some riding, as I am a newbie, the learning process has been a bit slow.

I did make a big breakthrough on my goal to start commuting to work. I had never actually gone the route before, although I knew I could do it, but I had that uncertainty of how long it would take, how will I bring clothes etc, etc. Nobody at my work commutes so I am blazing the trail so to speak. On saturday I got up and told my wife that I wanted to go for a ride (which is the first ride of the year for me.) I just so happened to forget to bring something home from work on Friday, so I had it in the back of my head that I would go the route to work and see how it felt. Well go I did, got all the way to work (about 12-14 miles I think) took a 20 minute water break at my desk, then saddled up and headed home. In all took me 44 minutes each way. This is a huge milestone for me, and one that I did not think I would realistically reach until later in the spring. It was a big mental block.

Goal for this week:
Eat something everyday for breakfast.
No Soda
Commute to work at least once.

Week 2 goal:

loose 1.6 pounds gained last week.

Now if this insane schedule would let up so I could ride I think I'd make headway even with the extreme cold and icey weather.

Well I weighed in on Monday at 290. That is the largest that I have ever been. I road a few times last week on my trainer with the DVD "Cycling for Fitness" from Carmichael. The first day I could only do 1/2 hour. Then I spun lightly on Tuesday. Wednesday I went for 45 minutes and was much stronger. Then Thursday I spun for 30 minutes. On Friday I took my new (well older frame with upgrade components) out for a 45 minute ride. That was really hard and my back got tired. My heart rate was much higher for that ride than the trainer. I did not do anything on the weekend. So I started on Monday and went for 1 hour and went through the whole Carmichael DVD. I also decided that I am going to wait a little to ride out side until I am in a little better shape and it gets over 40 degrees.

354 pounds, down 3 from last week - it's not 4, but I'll take it :)

Got 2 hours on the elliptical and almost had a 100 mile week (back to tracking again, dangit :)), 5 days of riding. Overall a good week last week. This week is starting slow, truth be told I'm trying to find motivation to ride in this cold. It'll come. This week:
-3 days of riding
-3 days of elliptical
-3 pounds

I updated my original post, but here is a recap:
I weighed in last night at 235.5 and last week, I was around 237, but I didn't join this party until yesterday, so there you go-1.5lbs down over the last week.

I had a great run on the treadmill last night, did a 5k loop at decent speed (for me).I am hitting it again tonight with some bike machine to boot.

I know that re-establishing my eating program from last year is starting to kick in, as I have the nice feeling of hungry, but not hungry, and a desire to go do something. I got the tracking number for my new bike lights, and they are scheduled to show up on Saturday, which is supposed to be around 20*F, so we will see.

Am having snakes in between, usally fruit and lots of water. A lot of exercise multiple workouts on days off I.E. trainer on bike at home then wieght's, swim with kids, Yoga when kids go to bed, plus the pushup challenge. Last week 356.4 on the digital scales at Pro Health Fitness Center located on the campus of Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. When I went to weigh in this morning I discovered that Senior Bowl guys had borrowed them to weigh in the players. I had to weigh in on the digital scales in the diagnostic lab. The readout this morning was 346. I don't think I lost 10.4 pounds in a week, so when the other scales get back I'll weigh again. All and all I had a good week. I increased my biking distance, controlled my intake better, and am feeling great after 3 weeks on the bike. I'm looking for something to do before work in the mornings (I like to ride in the afternoon). My wife suggests that I swim laps before work. I am going to try to get in 4-5 mornings of swimming this week.

As of 01-19-09 sitting at 228lbs down another two from last week total of 7lbs from start of year. I'm still freaking hungry but not too bad getting use to the smaller portions. Friday night was pizza and ice cream night as a family mmmmmm. My whole family is a bunch of health crazed lunatics but once a month we get together for movie and whatever we want to eat night, kids picked pizza this time. Go ahead and enjoy it! If you skipped, you might have ended up regretting it, and compensating by eating something else that's unhealthy, at a time not planned. Just try not to totally pig out, and you will be fine. :thumb:

No change for me. still at 235.5. The last 1/2 of the week fell apart for me, and I spent most of my gym time at work, and the roads were not amenable to cycling with all the snow. However, I did get some bike maintenance done, got the new lights mounted, and my studded tires show up today, so no more fear of the road conditions. Hoping for a more productive week this time.
