Hi!
I'm trying to put together a group of riders that are interested in doing weekly ride of 100 miles from Long Beach Marina (start of Ny ride) to Como street ride (tustin) and back for a total of 100 miles.
Start time is 6am distance to Como street 27 miles (pch to jamboree), so going at 22mph gives us +- 1:30 min with a 30 min emergency buffer for flats.
then do a Como ride, have some tea of coffe and then ride back moderate/easy pace.
Its total of 100 miles with decent amount of hills and speedwork, in addition you can expect your fitness and aerobic capacity to skyrocket in 1-2 weeks after doing this ride.
If you plan on racing in 2009 this ride will prepare you for anything racing calendar throws at you whether its a stage races, crits or track.
The only hard part is to wake up at 5am to to be at marina at 6 am.
This is the route:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=33.753746,-118.109894&daddr=CA-1+to:tustin+market+place+tustin+ca&hl=en&geocode=%3BFS7yAAId-PL4-A%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=13&via=1&sll=33.752176,-118.053761&sspn=0.077644,0.181961&ie=UTF8&ll=33.692352,-117.720566&spn=0.310792,0.727844&z=11
It shows 27 miles so that means if we have at least 2+ people we can pace it at 22-25 MPH and get there at appx 1hour and 20 min.
ride starts at 8 am, so we have to be at marina at 6 am. (have error margin for red lights and flats)
We return same exact way back. the ride itself is nothing more then a loop it starts and ends at exact same spot and appx 30 miles.
its over by 10 am. so depending on how fast you ride back ( i usually take my time when by myself) you can be back in marina around noon.
this is the route of the Como street ride:
