Bump … question for those who have volunteered for the HHH before:

Back in early February, after I did not get into the HHH lottery, I signed up on the HHH website to volunteer. But I still have not heard anything back.

Is that normal?

Yeah, I didn't get a response for a long time last year. I sent some e-mails to make sure I was on the list. I'll dig through my old e-mails to see if I can find the approximate dates.

Edit.... The first e-mail came in on 5/22 to confirm we were on the list and we got assignments e-mail on 6/3.

I can't believe those who are riding this year's HHH let this thread slide so long.

Are you people dead inside??

Chat it up!

(oh yeah.... Good luck out there this weekend!)

I expect to be volunteering the daybreak shift for packet pickup at Blue Mound State Park. See you there, whoever is riding.

Wanted to know if everyone wanted to meet up for dinner at the Grumpy troll in Mt Horeb Friday night? The wife and I should be getting into town in the early evening and plan on getting to the Troll around 7'ish Great food and great beers

Can I take my dogs in? Wonder if I can just get a growler at the drive-thru after packet pick-up? :twitchy:

Don't know about their policy on dogs but as long as your dog doesn't consume any of my beer I'm cool with it...and no drive-thru..this is a classy joint, they got indoor plumbing and everything

I'll be driving up in the morning so no dinner for me again this year. Think I'll sport the BFNIC jersey and fenders as well. I don't mind sprinkles here and there, but let's hope it doesn't thunderstorm all day.

No pics to offer (though the morning mist was quite photogenic). Pretty vanilla gig. 68 miles/6800 feet of climbing/5:28 total time on course (~4:40 rolling). Sweated buckets. Met TZ Friday night. Curious how the rain bike worked out. I hit the road after some beer and a nap.

I'm also wondering when photos will be up on their website.

This was my first HHH, and I loved every minute of it. My goal was not to walk any of the hills, and I accomplished that, but almost didn't. I spent almost everything I had on the 2nd climb up Mounds Park Rd., and forgot about the additional climb to the finish line. I stopped on that hill, dismounted, and considered walking. But to get that far and finish on foot, I'd never live that down. So after catching my breath, I hopped back on.

4:48 spent on the bike, but I did take generous breaks at the two rest stops.

I volunteered at packet pickup, getting up at 4am to staff the registration table 5-9am. Saw a few local friends but no BFNICers.

It seemed a lot hotter and more humid than last year. I was not entirely sorry to skip out and do an easy 25 mile ride from Madison to Paoli with friends, instead of the HHH. But, I expect I'll be there next year, especially now that I have a guaranteed slot.

BTW, here's an HHH article from the local Madison paper:

For A Day, Lawn Becomes A Graveyard For Horribly Hilly Riders (http://www.madison.com/archives/read.php?ref=/tct/2009/06/21/0906220232.php)
