View Full Version : Vegas for a bachelor party

So I recently find out one of my buddies will be getting married, soon after my marriage starts.

My best man is starting to want to go to Vegas.

Here's my problem/issue with that:

1) You have to be stupid to "waste" money in an economy like we're in right now

2) A month after marriage, to go to Vegas to do God knows what, probably isn't the best thing for a soon to be newly wedded couple - kinda goes back to the wasting money thing also (my wedding is in September, buddies is in October)

3) Not only will the 3 of us need to decide to go, but that may leave out other people in the wedding party, especially one of our closest friends that is mormon.

4) I've never wanted to go to Vegas in the first place.

Two things that I've gotten over since high school and college - drinking too much, and strip clubs

For some reason, I've grown out of it

So what would you do in this situation? These guys are my closest friends I've ever had, but my lifestyle has changed since graduation/finding a fiance/healthy living/wanting to be more responsible.

Figure out the stuff to do in Vegas that doesn't involve drinking or going to strip clubs. For one, you're near the north rim of the Grand Canyon--great hiking and sightseeing. Go hit some of the quirky stuff in Vegas. Also, the food's actually pretty cheap. The town makes its money off of gambling, so a lot of other stuff is actually pretty reasonably priced, as I understand it.

You've never seen my friends, they aren't the ones to want to go hiking or sightseeing unless it involves a Corona in one hand, a taco in the other, sitting on the beach. One friend is obsessed with t*tty bars. It's pretty much a given that'd be on our to-do list.

Actually, the mormon friend would love to do something like going hiking, in fact I think he has done exactly that near/in Vegas.

If it's the gambling they want, take a chartered party bus to a relatively close casino and gamble there for the night.

If it's the strippers they want, go to a local strip club.

That way they get their Vegas kicks and thrills, but without paying for airfare, hotels, and more expensive casinos and strip clubs.

Or simply tell them what you just typed to us; there's really nothing wrong with that. From the female perspective, I'd have no problem with my fiance wanting to go to the strip club for his bachelor party... but I would definitely have a problem with him spending hundreds of dollars just to see t!ts or gamble with his buddies when that money could go toward something else like, say... the mortgage or furniture or a vacation or something for the house or a kegerator. :)

Red Rocks is an amazing area just outside of Vegas.

I just don't think there is anything wrong with saying it isn't going to work out for you, and stating exactly the reasons above.

Being in a wedding is already costly- but "expecting" a vacation on top of everything: I'd think they should understand? A night out at the local bars and you can all go home to your wives, fiancees, etc.

Will you marry me? (Okay, granted, my wife might object, but you so obviously have your priorities straight.....)

Are you the groom or best man?

(if 'no' to either, then you don't have much choice. It's the groom's party)

That being said my bachelor party was a rented house in Steamboat. We rafted/hiked/biked/drank and ate like kings. My dad sang karaoke. We saw approximately 10 women all weekend. --And we had a BLAST.

Groom for mine of course, but he hasn't told us who the best man is yet for the other. But yeah, I know, if I'm just one of the groomsmen, I don't have a say. In that case, if it's in Vegas, they can go without me. But if I understand the guy that wants to go to Vegas correctly, it'd be for both of our bachelor parties. Honestly, I'd rather just have two "easy" bachelor parties than one vacation bachelor party.

May just be me, but vegas it the last place I would want to go.

I would have no desire to go to Vegas. We all went camping on my buddy's farm for my bachelor party.... 1000's of acres in the middle of nowhere and 15 cases of beer for three adult men over one weekend. God, that was fun!

I ended up combining parties with my best man who got married within 2 months after me. Especially if it's the same group of guys (more or less), it makes sense.

You could do something like Mt. Charleston (11,000 ft+, just outside of Vegas) and let the boobie-lookers take a bus for the night....

There seems like a very simple solution to your problems. First, you put the nix on the combined party to Vegas by saying--I don't want to do that/can't afford to do that for my party. Second, you try and talk sense into them for the second party. If that fails, don't go and explain why. If they are your friends they will not get mad at you.

A favorite Vegas movie.. About Vegas' bachelor parties getting out of hand.. "Very Bad Things." With Cameron Diaz.. .. Be very afraid.. I love this movie. Dark humor in it's most intense form. The very last frame is a killer.

I think of vegas as anything but.
Casinos are creepy and the shows are lame.

We did the Vegas Bachelor thing for a friend. Was quite fun.

It pretty much boils down to attitude. You just need to find good alternatives to the usual stupid Vegas crap and it'll be great. So we dressed nicely, didn't get too plastered, played with AK-47s, and opted for a tickets to a burlesque show instead of a strip joint. It worked out great and was pretty much the best bachelor party so far.

I understand completely....now that you're married your dick shrivelled up and you've become a little girl. I don't remember where it says that the bachelor party is supposed to be about the best man. HTFU and go to vegas and have a great time. You don't have to have lap dances or drink too much, just make sure your best friends have a good time (it's your job!). By the way Vegas is way more than gambling and strip clubs, and is incredibly cheap right now. Like an above poster mentioned take a day and rent a bike and go to Red Rock canyon. You'll come back wishing you could go every year.

I must admit I thought the same thing. I had a little flash back to the '70s when I was in the service.

I remember seeing a Vega and a GTO drag race once... each was owned by a guy in my unit. The GTO took the Vega off the line, but the Vega's tires were still smoking as it passed the GTO. Of course, the Vega had a nicely built V8 instead of the stock engine shoe horned into it... A popular modification.
