i went for a ride up san juan trail in the ortega mtns this am 10:00 am , i know the unemployment rate is high so i figured people would be riding on a beautiful day like today (perfect) i was the only one there , i did not see a single rider going up or down :)

The unemployment rate must not be that high...or the unemployed are trying to remedy their situation...or the unemployed have sold their bikes to make their rent.

Either way, sounds like a nice, peaceful ride!

Then how come I still can't get a good parking spot or drive home without hitting traffic?

Unemployed people are depressed and too unmotivated to climb hills. Soap operas and Pringles hit the spot.

You're whining about too FEW people? If it was me, I wouldn't even post about an trail with no traffic. Just enjoy the solitude!

Some reasons you might consider:

* You were out riding on a Monday. Employed folks were probably working;

* The unemployed were out job hunting;

* Remember that MTB'r that got attacked by a mountain lion in Whiting Ranch Park a few years ago? Maybe that scared everyone off.

Pringles, yes. Soap operas? No, I'd rather watch reruns of NCIS and do cross stitch. But I'm at work right now.

Unemployed people need to make sure their COBRA payment was made. At least, that is what I would do before hitting the road...
