Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Spokane is somewhat of a little known meca for both. This city itself doesn't have great city riding, but in spokane you're never more than a few miles from empty country roads. Lots of good groups to ride with in town too, depending on what you're interested in.
For mountain biking, there are several state parks and open lands within city limits that are pretty decent for rding. Within 60-100 miles of town there are trully epic mtn bike trips you can take.
For road biking, pretty much ride out of town in any direction and you'll hit country roads. The trick is knowing the best ways to get there. Check our club website and webforum out for both mtn and road rides. If you're into racing; yeah there's that too.
I lived in the south central part of the valley for about 5 yrs and rode to work from March to November. After work I would head south on hwy 27 to Freeman and hang a right and come back in to Dishman Mica. A couple of times I would loop back in on the south hill from Freeman.
Sometimes for longer rides I would go down to Waverly go west to Hwy 195, south to Rosalia and then east to Oakesdale and back north on Hwy 27. Lots of good rolling hills on that ride.

Mtn Mike is giving away all our secrets over here. I might do a club ride someday when I am fast enough to qualify for one of their rides:(

Just north of Spokane, across the border, lies Canada's mountain biking capital, Rossland. Seven Summits trail=epic.

I'm not sure why we have that rep, but it isn't justified. We're road riding tomorrow with the promise of 40-50 miles of easy pedaling. I'm hoping to make 3 hours of it :thumb:

For local trails you have Riverside state park, Beacon Hill, High Drive, High bridge park, Palisades park, Marshall rollers, a few rail trails, Mt Spokane has some great down hills. As Mt Mike said with a little traveling and good planning you can put truley epic rides.

If you wind up in Spokane, you're gonna need at least 2 bikes, 1 Mountian and 1 Road. Now thinking about it, maybe a cross bike would be a good addition to the stable.:D Other than that, youre good! (unless you want to pick up a cruiser for just chillin and cruisin bike paths and parks, k you need 4 bikes now!) Ok if you want to ride, Spokane has it all, and the best part is the folks who live there.
My slide show has a few pics from the 8 Lakes Leg Aches, one of the rides in Spokane (http://lcsnw.org) (http://lcsnw.org)) . Really a nice area!

I tried to do the recommended ride by your club and couldn't do it in the time they recommended. That was last summer, so hopefully this year I'll make it.

Oh, don't worry too much about "the test". We'll hook up sometime this spring and do the river loop. We really aren't bad guys to ride with.
