Just caught wind today that Yeti is prototyping a new DH-able rig that is targeted at those who can't shell out the green for the 303. (My apologies to everyone who already knew this - - can you tell I don't get out enough?) Right now it's being called the 303R DH; supposed to have 8½" of travel, a 64.5 - 65.5 deg. HA and a vestige anyway of the 303's rail-and-truck suspension.

This is exciting stuff (IMO anyway), as Yeti lost their budget DH rig when they phased out the AS-X. 303s were always heady price-wise, so it's nice to see them bring something back out for us mere mortals. Spy shots:

Just how "budget" are we talking?

Rumors put SRP at $2,699 for the frame (as opposed to $3,870 SRP for the 303). Still, when compared to the $1,649 SRP for the Transition Blindside, 'budget' is all relative. That's why I put it in quotes.

A couple more shots; one from Eurobike, with a bit more 'production-ish' refining to some of the frame pieces:

It is all relative. I couldn't believe that the 2009 Turner 5-Spot MSRP is now $2500. For reference last year it was at $2150 and a few years ago I remember it being sub $2000. I know we're not talking about similar bikes, but I'm just commenting on how much the boutique frames have gone up in price in the last few years.

True that.

In other Yeti news, I'm reading on Yetifan.com that they have officially scrapped the single-sided design of the ASR-7 (Seven) and are now proto-ing a more conventional 2-sided setup - - very much like a 7" version of the 575. So yet another option seems to be a-brewin' from the good folks in Golden.

Damn, that is whole-lotta coin. Looks pretty bad-ass though, I gotta give it that.

I heard from the grape vine that Yeti might be bringing the AS-X back.

Welcome to a few months ago. Gravey boat rocked it at the last few Aus national rounds. And won one.
