I've gotta spend the weekend in Madison, with part of the time being consumed by a wedding I'm in, and I'm obviously taking the bike. Can anyone out there recommend some sites to check out on my bike while I'm in town? Just riding around the university section? Any good bike shops? Thanks for your help.

Check out the Yellow Jersey on State Street.
There are also a lot of paths and loops around the lakes, you just gotta choose which one you want.

Lots of places to ride:
Loop around Lake Monona (about 2/3 bike path)
Arboretum (road, but connects to paths)
Around and through the University (all road, lots of students dodge and look at)
State St and the Capitol Square
Just about anywhere outside of town (east is flat, west is hilly).
Shops:
Yellow Jersey on State
Revolution on Atwood (closed on Sundays so they can ride)

s2sxiii: I sent you another PM this morning.
Check out Budget Bike Center, the used store (they have a new bike store too). Forget the street, but Eastern part of town. Lots of cool bikes in there at reasonable prices. At least it's cool to see so many different bikes together.

Budget Bikes has several stores, all but one of which are on Regent St. It's not east, but just west of downtown/campus. The used shop is ok for looking around, but the prices are generally a bit high.
SV, I'll agree with you. I'm bad with my East/West/North/South around here. Back home in the South we never used the terminology, eventhough I can read a compass or look at the Sun! I guess the flatness up here calls for it.
Yeah, that place is on Regent. I guess I'm biased because I found my Globe there for a good price. But it actually belonged to a employee there and he had knocked the price way down. The original asking price for the bike was a bit high. They were high when I went asking around for a used seat, computer, etc eventhough there were piles of that stuff lying around.
