General Cycling Discussion - Finally Got New Rack

Well after several months of research, I finally got my new bike rack. It is a Sportworks Mod Series. I think the rack would look better on an SUV or the like, but I am happy with it. It takes about 10 seconds to take the bike on/off. The bike is VERY solid in the rack and I know I am going to love it.

Finally I can take my bike somewhere else to ride. I have ridden over 2000 miles on basically two different routes around town since August of last year. Getting a little bored with that. :D

Dragging shouldn't be a problem unless you are talking about a VERY steep incline. The receiver hitch itself (permanantly mounted to car) is lower than any other part of the bike rack. The only issue is that the rack sticks out a bit so when you get into a serious angle, you have to be smart.

Surprisingly doesnt take much of an incline. That bar that comes out of the receiver sits down low. I drug it on many Mickey Ds and gas station lots. I'm not saying all the time but sometimes the exit is steeper than the entrance.

That is an opitcal illusion. I can't see this rack dragging very often. This rack is even better than reported. It received MTB Review's Choice Award for 2003. (http://www.mtbreview.com/reviews/Bike_Rack/product_78550.shtml)

It should still have a perfect rating. I will help it's rating out after I test it a little more, but as of now, I am way impressed. It's funny what people downgrade a product for in a review. A couple have complained that it is heavy. Sure it is heavy, that is what you want it needs to be tough. One guy complained that it took too long to put it on. It takes about 3-5 minutes and I am new at it.

ONe guy compained that you need a wrench to put it on. Pllllllllllllllllllllllllllease! Doesn't everyone own a wrench? What does he want to mount it with Velcro? ONe guy said the support arm was loose. Mine is TIGHT so tight i can barely pull it over the front wheel. That too is what you want.

I could go on and on but I just mention it because it is interesting to read the couple of negative posts on anything when it conflicts with everyone else. A product normally has a high rating because it is good.

Yes at that angle you do have a lot of clearance. Your rack bents upwards a lot sooner than mine does.
Looks like won't have any trouble at all. I bought mine so I could get in my trunk easier than my trunk mount rack. Now I have a S10 pickup so they both sit in the closet.
