I heard about it minutes after it was released when I was watching the financial news this morning. What I find curious is as a CEO, he's required to have a physical for their officers and directors insurance, so how is it that they managed to overlook the unhealthy lifestyle that someone who is in a high risk category for having heart attacks? The only thing I can think is that either he hasn't had his physical yet, or that there was something else behind it. Either way, it's saddening to see someone in their prime dead at such an early age. He really did turn around the McDonald's empire- he really did want to introduce the healthier alternatives for eating, and bringing him on was the best thing that company did back when they were struggling. McDonald's is a company out of Oak Brook (outside of Chicago), so they are a big part of our economy, and hopefully, McDonald's will be able to replace the guy and continue making positive changes to their menus for healthy eating.

Koffee,

Where did it mention unhealthy lifestyle/high risk? I haven't seen anything about
that in any of the press releases or news stories.
Of course some would say that eating McDonalds is an unhealthy lifestyle and
puts one at high risk, which is the irony that the original poster intended (i guess).

No, but I don't see how a man that ran a company selling high fat, high cholesterol foods dying of a heart attack is ironic. Unless there is something I am missing, I would propose that it is "fitting."

No, its the Grammar and Spelling Gestapo, we don't bother with diction that would be too dictatorial.

Oh sorry- I didn't mean he had an unhealthy lifestyle, just thinking aloud that with a physical, if he had had an unhealthy lifestyle, they would have caught it earlier. It could have easily have been a genetic problem, a tear in the aorta, drugs, whatever.... there aren't any details as to what caused the heart attack at all. I just know that if he'd been having his physicals, perhaps they would have been able to catch a problem early on. It's not uncommon for those huge companies (like Fortune 500) would require their officers to have a physical just to ensure that they don't do something like drop dead suddenly and leave the company in chaos as they scramble to replace them and reassure the public that they've got everything under control...

Agreed. Irony = (if) he was a Class 7 Vegan running McDonalds
