We're planning to attend PSTR 2004 June 11-13 put on by the CATS in Thomson, Il. Anybody know what the terrain is like in that area? Rolling terrain, steep grades, long climbs? It is close to the Mississippi River so problably some climbs to get out of the river area, are we correct?

My wife and I are planning to go also. I haven't ridden specifically around Thomson, but have ridden TOMRV several times from Bettendorf, IA to DuBuque which goes near there. Your assessment of the area is probably pretty good. I'm going out on a limb here, but I'd guess little windy roads in somewhat rolling terrain with a combination of short climbs and gentle valleys. Should be scenic.

Howdy from Tucson, Dennis!
Thank you for the info. We're a little bit out of home territory in Illinois as the last time we rode in IL. was in the mid-70s on a crushed limestone bike trail. Too many flats and ducked out onto a real road.
Hope to see you at PSTR; we could not get into the host hotel but got in at the Thomson Villager Lodge a short distance from the hosting hotel.
We're looking for change of the heat/cactus!
Pedal in TWOgether
Rudy and Kay/Zona tandem
