Seems clothing is an area of great importance in cycling. How about a board that is dedicated to it? It would make life easier when finding views on cycling apparel.

Except the clothing used by various subgroups of the cycling community differs greatly.

Case in point below...

Roadie:

Triathlete:

C&V:

etc.

So, clearly I think clothing discussions should be segregated to their respectable forums.

How about a page where you can talk about clothing if you want, but you can also talk about other things. We could call it The Clothing Optional Forum.

I'd like to see an "equipment" forum ... a forum for everything cycling related that we buy - clothing, wheels, pedals, panniers, etc. etc. etc.. Bicycling Mag's forum has a "Buying" forum for that purpose, and it gets a lot of traffic.

It could be set up as a general "Equipment" forum at the same level as the rest of the main forums, or as a sub-forum within forums like the Road Forum or Mtn Bike Forum or Touring Forum, etc.

I agree with bdcheung's assessment, with the same idea applied to equipment.

Yes, that would work for me, also.

My rough estimate is that at least 75% of the commuting list posts ARE about equipment.

That would be great. Here's how the first thread would go:
What bibs should I buy?
OP: I'm in the market for some bib shorts that are comfy for my bike rides. Any suggestions?
P1: Hincapie is great, so is Voler.
P2: Bibs? Why the heck do you need bibs? I ride 28 miles in cargo shorts. You don't need bibs. don't waste your money, unless you want to be like one of those Roadie goofs with more dollars than sense.
P1: "Roadie goofs?" Bibs and other technical clothing were designed with function in mind.
P2: And my cargo shorts *function* perfectly.
P3: Just find the tightest pair of jeans you can.
P4: You wouldn't need to spend big bucks on bibs if you didn't ride a DD.

etc.

Actually, when you remove the equipment threads from places like the Road Forum, and put them in their own category, they become about equipment with generally good, helpful responses about equipment.
