Touring - Smiling Tourers—a photo thread

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Here's to you, Ten Wheels.
We've all seen the "loaded bikes" thread. No faces to go with 'em. Feel free to post a pic of you and your ride. C'mon Ten Wheels.

Maybe if you are really lucky your daughters will wind up sharing the interest in touring. Riding with your kids is a wonderful opportunity. If they don't take to it do something they are interested in. Some of the best times of my life are riding, running, hiking, sailing, or kayaking with my daughter.
I have two daughters (5 and 8) as well as a son (6), and would love it if they ended up sharing my love of cycling. In fact, I'd be thrilled if even just one of them did; anything more would be a huge bonus.
The thought of riding with one of my kids really sounds like a wonderful opportunity (well at least to me!). I'm very careful though, I try not to push my biking hobby onto them, and have really, really tried to just present stuff to them and let them discover and like things at their own pace and preference. I agree though, some of the things they remember are when we do outdoor stuff together.
By the way staehpj, I've read your crazyguy journal and it sounds like you had a wonderful time cycling with your daughter and her friend, a real experience to treasure, and a priceless one at that. Thanks for posting it -I can only dream!

Yes, it's a Long Haul Trucker.
The panniers are Gilles Berthound. I love them. 4765 miles of touring this summer and they still look brand new.

A wise approach. Never force your interests on your kids, give them the opportunity and hope for the best. If that fails take an interest in things that they are interested in.
I was very lucky that my daughter took to so many of my interests. Since most of her friends didn't share her love of the outdoors, it made for a lot of wonderful father daughter experiences. I hope that others here manage to have similar experiences with their children. If the opportunities arise definitely take them if at all possible.

I seem to remember that it was autographed. The Burger Bar also was supposedly the last place Hank Williams ate at before he died.
Breakfast there was good BTW.
