Mountain Biking - Dual Slalom

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The UCI [and NORBA] is replacing dual with 4X... which is basically dual with four riders. The problem with dual, as I understand, was that the elimination process could take all day with a large field, and spectators just weren't waiting around. 4X [the call it "four-cross"] will run somewhat more quickly.

The 4 up style is way cooler to watch. They have been having them in England and Canada for a few years now. They held one at Sea Otter last year, and another one at one of NCS races also. They used to be called Biker X or Mountain X. The one at Sea Otter had huge jumps, it was awesome!!

Ha ha, I didn't read the article long enough to see dual was being replaced with 4-cross..4 riders sounds like it would be way cooler than 2.
