Hmmmm..........not sure if this is good or bad.
"The Karate Kid" is one of those classic bad, feel-good movies, I just can't pass up when thumb through it while flipping channels.

Potential upside for a remake: negligable. Potential downside: massive.
The basic plot line can be - and has been - done in a bazillion different settings. So why pick one that's already been done before and has become something of a cultural icon? (Say "wax on, wax off" to damn near anyone in America and they know the reference.) I mean, there has to be some other sport or activity that can be used instead.

only good that can possibly come from a remake is that youngins will understand that "wax on, wax off" is not describing getting a brazillian.

Doesn't anyone have original screenplay ideas any more? Seems that everything is a remake or rip-off (remake that doesn't admit it's a remake).

I'd watch it if Mr. Miyagi didn't pass away and was in the movie.
What is Zombie Miyagi was in it? Brains on, brains off.

All original writing is used on "unscripted" reality shows these days.

Nah dude. I'm looking forward to the remake of Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times". Maybe they'll cast one of the Jonas Brothers as the lovable tramp.
they better not do a remake of the goonies or stand by me
for some reason, those three movies are hard to watch.
I got this one idea about a space pirate and a gorilla who take a farmboy and a princess on a journey to save the universe

umm, that is only two movies, maybe that explains the hard to watch bit?

If I had money, I would finance this film. Seriously.

That's the oldest story in the movies. You've got to be kidding.

Even worse. They're making a Goonies 2, with the original cast.
Oaky, how about the one about an altruistic septuplet of cowboys who save a village from desperados? No one has done that have they?

3 movies?

sounds like the seven samurai
dang it, I will just have to do the one about the kids on the last day of summer cruising the strip before heading off to college.
how about an adventure inside a super computer, and the main cast gets thrown into a bicycle race?
How about one where some kid ditches school for a day?
3 movies?

I thought that thing was in production for the longest time ever, for a movie.

"Magnificent Seven" is a remake of "The Seven Samurai"
1: Remakes really dont bother me a bit. 2: I like Jackie Chan. 3: I also like Jaden Smith. Put them all together and that spells "winner" for me.

No movie ever needed re-making less than 'The Karate Kid'.
If Jackie Chan is in it, it should be called Kung Fu kid.

I'm gonna break ranks here. Jackie Chan has great comedic timing, and if Will Smith's kid has 10% of his dad's personality, this could be a great movie.

Yeah. It seems like the last original idea for a screenplay was "West Side Story." :innocent:
