Model years are changing and the poor economy is in play. Man, are there some deals to be had.......

I drool enough with the bikes on the internet. I have to stay away from the bike shops.

Seems good if you can find an '08 in the right size.

I bought an 08 QR Seduza for $500 off the original price about 3 weeks ago, it was just too good a deal to pass up.

As I mentioned on another thread, Dura Ace 7800 components are being sold at closeout prices all over the web, from reputable sellers.

I just paid $80 for a *new* DA rear derailleur.

List on a new 105 is $90; list on a new Ultegra is $125.

No sale at the one I went to. I decided to get the "around town" bike I wanted on lay-away rather than wait for the price to go up $100 as the MSRP has gone up. A Cycle Genius Sparrow.

$38 for a new Ultegra rear derailleur. (online - haven't seen any great deals at the LBS so far)

I have not been in a LBS since September.

But did get several great deals at a bike swap meet last Saturday.

Yes Tom,

A friend of mine from almost-Madison (Middleton) was there and found a 38t Stronglight chainring her'd been looking for, sounds like an excellent event! I'm guessing it was the same event, don't know how many you have there.

Anyway, it's great that someone takes the time to put that together. Wish we had something like it out here!

I have been commuting all week on my trusty old Peugeot. I need a new saddle, but I am not seeing any great bargains out there yet.

Saving up to get to Glenwood so trying to limit my visits to the LBS as much as possible. Every time I go there it cost's. So less visits means less occasions to have my money wrenched out of the wallet by the shop owner.

Spoke with the co-owner of an LBS who said they just had one of their biggest weeks ever, mostly in sales of non-bike exercise equipment.

I've looked around for deals on 2008 stuff, but most of that seems to be gone already. I'm in the market for a bike but am holding off to see which direction the economy goes.

The repair shop at my LBS supports the shop and appears doing well in this economy. That said, I noticed they were offering 2008 Scott entry level road bikes with SORA shifters for $566. I thought that was an excellent price.

We're practically out of '08 bikes, but I hear rumors that Trek and Specialized are planning to roll back the '09 price increases.

That's interesting news. I was planning on holding off on my purchase until the end of Jan. Maybe I'll wait a bit longer.

Not a problem for me. I have not visited any LBS's in nearly 2 years. :D

Part of the reason less 2008 stuff out there is that most mfgs. moved their model year changover to July/Aug. so they and their dealers would get stuck with less NOS inventory. I have not seen any killer deals recently.
