My ’93 Raleigh road bike (rainy day) commuter is in need of a new wheel so on the way home I tried my luck at a local thrift shop. I didn’t really find a road bike with 700c wheels, but I found lots of other interesting bikes: a Trek MTB, a Schwinn MTB, and a couple of Specialized Rockhoppers. All were probably early to mid 90’s. Anyway, I went home with this baby for $10 which my wife will be using. Shifting is precise, wheels are true, brakes are perfect, and there's hardly a paint chip. The only thing it needs are new grips. With a few modifications, I will be using her old MTB, a mid 90’s Specialized Hardrock, as my rainy day commuter. Cool :D

Great catch! I have figured out that there are garages just full of like-new bikes out there, just waiting to be donated to the Goodwill or thrift store. It's one of those things where you have to check out those places regularly, and wait for that one day when a good bike is mixed amonst the common bikes. Thrill of the chase type of thing!

I see bikes hanging in everyones garages around here and I just want to walk up and say "hey, what you got there, take $10 for it?" :-)

Enjoy!

I'm impressed. Good job!
