I collect these kind of books and think I have a copy of "Ten Thousand Miles of America" stashed way somewhere I bought several years ago. I looked around the normal internet places and found a blog but no place to buy the book. Hopefully someone else can be more helpful. I would be surprised if this book is out of print because it was doing so well. I also remember seeing google ads selling a pdf version. Good hunting!

Did a quick look on ebay, wow! There's ten thousand miles by sled dog, ten thousand miles by train, etc. But no bicycle book unfortunately.

Sadly Richard passed away at a very young 35 in 2007 and apparently the funding to keep the site up has run out. I received my copy of his book only a couple of months before he passed and truly enjoyed the read. It is one of my all time favorite bike touring travel books. He used to have podcasts on his site and had quite a background including being a boat captain on the Mississippi, and a large collection of American roots music.

I'll look for any family information in my copy, as a potential contact to see if there are still copies available. Your best bet is to search eBay, half.com, Amazon, or other book related sites to try and find a used copy. You might also try some library networks to see if anyone has it available to check out.

I'm sorry to learn of the author's death. This explains why I never received the copy of his book I ordered through his website thedairyair.com.

I checked my copy and couldn't find any other information that might help you. It was self published so no ISBN number.

Since Richard was from Mukwanago WI, I would try searching for any online book sellers near Milwaukee, Madison or that region in hopes they would have a copy to sell.
