This is just for entertainment so if you feel like posting comment like, "I don't feel the need to race" or "I don't have to prove I'm macho to anyone", then don't post! Just to make it more entertaining, the winner of your race gets $100,000! Now that would be give me a need to race one of my friends!:roflmao2:

Forgot to meention. Mana a Mano, no drafting, one on one!

For extra fun, you can name the buddy you'd like to race!:p

A buddy that's about your level of cycling. Doesn't matter if it's a 32 mph race or a 7 mph race!;)

My advantage I think would be distance. I know plenty of riders that punish my arse for 20,30 ,40 even 80 miles. Then after it seems that my energy level remains consistent throughout, most of the time! I've had buds kcik my butt on rides through the mountains. Well first 10-30 miles. After a good distance in the mtns, I seem to open gaps on them.

I am not much of a sprinter, maybe 32 on a seated sprint. Nor do I do one mile climbs in a flash. Heck it takes me 4 or 5 miles towarm up!:p

A lot of variables to consider here. Let's assume it's an opponent with similar conditioning and an average distance for Cat 4/5.

My advantages would be patience, knowing my sterngths so as not to get goaded into a situation I'm week in, and tactics. Since this is a "Bud", I'm assuming I at least somewhat know his strengths as well.

After 35 miles, I'm gonna be looking to stretch his rubber band. Around 50 miles, I want to pop that rubber band.

The fact is though, unless one of you pops, it's gonna come down to the last 200-300 meters anyway. Then it's who has the best/most jump.

Right now, if there is a lot of climbing, it's over before it starts. Please save me a beer for when I get there.

mine would be more endurance to have a fairly large gas tank if I control the pace its when I try to hold someone else's pace that I begin to break down

Oh darn, I forgot to mention a ONE on One, no drafting eachother!

keep the distance...The slowest time to cross a mile obstacle course, no dabbing...! Balance Baby! I know ALOT of people who can go for miles and miles and I've seen those same people and strangers who passed me look all kerfkustered when it comes time to slow manuevar thru crowds or obstacles.

slow obstacle course, clipless. No track standing allowed!

I'd say I have nothing to prove but I'm a fat guy on wheels who loves a challenge or a race. Physical advantages, Cardio and leg strength

Well I don't really like the no drafting aspect unless it's tri bikes, not because I want to draft but becaause I can use it to my advantage. I let the guy suck my wheel for the first 25 miles then slow up just a touch and slide in beside him. After that it's half wheel of H*** for another 25. On the next 25throw in some rolling terrian to power up a couple of hills to attack, you know wear the guy out. Then hit the flats for the last 24.75 miles and really crank the reserve power up, running 53-15 around a 85-90 cadance to get it all out of him, drop just a touch into the 12 and hammer it, that is if I have to by that point. Yeah I would require a good 100 mile race to beat most of my buddies. Shoft rides are not my specialty takes a good 15-20 miles to hit my zen. Even they say even tho I'm big and can't climb as fast as them it wouldn't matter because I can so much on rollers and flats because of my power.

"If U Had To Race A Bud, What Wood Be Your Advantage?"

For starters, a bottle of Budweiser doesn't have legs or arms, so it can't even get on a bike (do any bike manufacturers make frames that small?). I win no matter what distance we're supposed to ride.

As for the wood that would be my advantage, I think I'd go with an ash baseball bat over a newer maple bat. Ash doesn't shatter as easily as maple when hitting baseballs of bottles of beer.

I'm skipping any race where I'm hitting a baseball made out of bottles of beer! I got sensitive skin and all.

Downhill and straight. I am almost guaranteed to have gravity on my side. Other than that I will lose

My competitive spirit and endurance would give me an advantage on a long flat course. I can go 30 miles with almost no break(refill bottles) and keep going another 30. After 60 the andrenaline rush of the race would keep my pace at a level I normally would not achieve on my own.

My advantage against my aluminum skinned Buds would be poking a tiny hole in the bottom of the can with a plumbob. If they are glass Buds then the flexible neck straws are my advantage. Put one with the neck flexed all the way down (so the straw hangs by it's neck with the long part in the bottle, place your mouth all the way over the opening of the bottle with the opening of the straw still being able to draw air into the bottle ie: outside your mouth. Presto, instant mini beer bong.

I don't think this is a race I'd want to win, we all know what happens to the first guy to pass out. But then again for 100k it would be a risk that might be worth taking, I could finally afford that Pinerello Prince. To the beer distributor! (Sorry, can’t buy beer at a gas station in PA :()

I'd race beanz, my advantage would be having a bunch of bikini clad women to distract him :)

I would race my twin brother 20 miles! I would race him because...
1. He does not have a bike,
2. He only rides on a trainer, and only for a couple of weeks now

I know that we are suppose it be in identical shape, I have only been riding for about 2 weeks. I stopped about 4 years ago, but I did ride a lot before that. This would kill 2 birds with one stone. First, he is older than me, so it makes me feel better that the younger one wins (I know that it is only 3 minutes, but it does matter) and he has always been able to beat me running.

I'd make her cry.

That's not nice... but I'd win.

Now if I was using wood then a heavy maple branch upside the head would do it too. But I'd get in a heap of trouble.

wind.

I don't know why, but I seem to be able to maintain a decent pace into a strong breeze better than my some of my skinnyish buds (some of the time).

Fearless downhill cornering and my disadvantage would definitely be a headwind.

I think I'd race you, Beanz, but on a flat muggy Indiana Summer Day, when the temp is 95 and the heat index is about 113 from the humidity. Stretch the course out over 150 miles or more.

That sounds fun! Just make it a straight course so I don't get lost!:p.If you beat me, I will shake your hand and take your pic!:D

No way buddy! After 3 consecutive years with Gina on the bike, I have it down. Wide range of sideways eyeball movement without so much as a hint of a turning of the head, no loss of pace and no double takes! I got it down!:D

Plus, I like wimmins but I like mines! :thumb:....any other distractions are never for more than .003 of a second!

If U Had To Race A Bud, What Wood Be Your Advantage?

I would say my advantage would be the microbrew, it typically has more alcohol per bottle than a regular bottle of Bud.

Now if I was racing wood, I would probably settle for a nice plank of Maple. It's not porous like White or Red Oak, and machines well. Maple also takes finish well right after sanding without having to make a slurry for the deeper grain.

my advantage with all my friends is endurance, and gravity. none of my friends have the ability to ride further than 65 miles. of my buddies only one has the ability to kick my butt. he isnt a smart rider though. he goes full speed and where he blows up he blows up. so until then i just have to hang on so he feels the need to push and when he bonks i just cruise right on by. we actually raced towards the end of the summer to the beach a ride of 16.5 miles. he spent most of the time more than 10 bike lengths ahead and at about mile 14 i put the move on him and at the finish i had been waiting almost 5 minutes. thats how bad he bonked. i have no idea how he was able to ride home that night. he didnt remember the last 10 miles lol. race details was no drafting and full all out (no waiting up unless emergency in which we both had cell phones).
