Foo - The Whirlwind (aka my life)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ok, I mentioned probably in a couple of threads that in December I was laid off. Hmmm. Ok. Funny thing is that so far in the month of January my income has somehow almost doubled from what it would've been if I still had my job. I collected unemployment for a week or two. Then I had some photography gigs come in totalling about $1100. Then the company that laid me off contacted me with an emergency and want me to come in and work contract at more than double my old salary for the rest of January and Febuary. I'm sitting here with a little more surplus of cash than I would have normally had yet I'm still without a secure job. And I am sitting here thinking 'wow, this has been a helluva thing'... :)

May it continue in that same direction. Sometimes, the safety net of being an employee can actually hinder our growth.
Sometimes its funny how these things work out. A few years back I was laid-off and since I was at the company so long I got 6 months severance pay. I was also allowed to collected unemployment despite the severance package to the tune of $210/week. The unemployment also was for 6 months. Ironically, it took me all but a little over 6 months to find a new job. :innocent:

I opened this thread thinking "Ravenmore is a lucky man, nothing too terrible will befall him".
My instincts were spot on.:thumb:

Thanks all - yeah, there are a lot of uncertainties still. I'm still playing it conservative, but the past week it seems like my life has been hitting on all cylinders. I'm especially surprised and pleased with the positive interest in my photography commercially. :) It also just feels good/right.
Anyway, hopefully it continues. Time will tell. :)

I don't want to jynx it but I had a funny feeling (in a good way) about 2009. We're only a couple of weeks in but wow, what a couple of weeks so far!

you know, until now I've always been the helper and not the helpee. ;) It's quite humbling and I consider it an honor. :)
