I will be in the Durham Chapel Hill area this weekend and wanted to visit a bike shop or two. Anyone from that area that can recommend some decent ones?

There aren't a whole lot of great bike shops around here. Durham has The Bicycle Chain (http://thebicyclechain.com/map.cfm?StoreID=3) and I think there is one in Chapel Hill also. I think there is still a Performance Bike in Chapel Hill or near by Carrboro.

The Bicycle Chain stores are decent. I would recommend checking these out - especially the Franklin Street store and Clean Machine (Carrboro). As mentioned above, there is also a Performance store in Carrboro. Outside these, you will need to drive to Raleigh for other shops. Cycles Spoken Here is probably the best stocked of all Triangle stores (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) and, The Spin Cycle is a great store but inventory always seems to be on the lean side to me. They need a bigger shop too.

There is also Grassroots Bikes. I have never been.
