Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It actually arrived yesterday, but I wasn't around, so they ended up taking it back to the P.O. I picked it up this morning. It felt like an empty box! :p

I'm going to spend the day polishing it, and then building it. Problem, though. My front end won't work. Not a huge deal, though. I'll figure something out. At least this is a start to getting back on the road. Thank you so much. Foosters are so amazing. :D

Usually they lock up with disuse and need a little grease to get going. It's winter.

I'm willing to offer mechanical advice, but the question was so un-focused. Seems I did get his attention though.
UA, what is the problem?

I believe the term is "flock of asses". Maybe it's "gaggle of asses" if you're canadian. But only banannas and grapes come in bunches.

Integrated, 1 1/8", threadless headset. The old, scary, falling apart bike has 1" threaded.

I recommend you locate a similarly decrepit 1" threaded headset with an appropriate stack height and threading for your fork.
Or is the thing you just received unthreaded? In any event, you're going to want an appropriate fork. No getting around that unless you're super-amazing at doing wheelies.
sounds like you should get a nashbar fork :p

I'll need threadless. I just don't have any money right now, so it'll have to wait, which is actually ok as the weather has finally gotten nasty.

I guess that is a BIT cooler than a box of balls.....................
you have a work stand, but lack a functioning bike? priceless.
He is also an airplane mechanic, and I bet you $5.00 he does not even own a single plane.
I've found that it's easier to play with your front end and drive train when your bike is in the trainer rather than the work stand.

if that's true, i don't think i'll ever fly without fear again.
Nice frame. And it matches the work stand!:thumb:

Nice frame ua.. What components?
I was hoping all your stuff would fit... but in my experience.. it never does :) Someone on here has got to have a spare fork laying around... I already gave away the one that was on this frame,,, but I may have a headset in a drawer somewhere.. I will check when I get home today. Sorry it was dirty,,, I have been hauling it around for a couple of years. enjoy it.

:) No worries. I just put a little wax on it and she cleaned right up. I like doing that.
I have 2006 Campy Centaur components that I'll be putting on, except for the front derailer which is 2007 and braze-on. So I'll be trying to get rid of that and find an '06 clamp-on.

except for the front derailer which is 2007 and braze-on. So I'll be trying to get rid of that and find an '06 clamp-on.You can just pick up a clamp. I ordered a clamp-on derailleur and was accidentally sent a braze-on model, but my frame came with a FD clamp, so it all worked out.
You said it's an integrated (or internal, or...) headset, did it come with the headset itself? If not, that might be a bit of a pain.
UnsafeAlpine

Yeah, it's integrated. If MRT10X can't come up with one, I'll figure out something. It looks like there are 3 different sized of headset. Yikes!

Yeah, it's integrated. If MRT10X can't come up with one, I'll figure out something. It looks like there are 3 different sized of headset. Yikes!More than that, I think. At least four, if not six. http://www.bikeforums.net/mysmiliesvb/mysmilie_15.gif (And that's not even counting the regular ones, like 1" threaded, 1" threadless, 1.125" threadless, 1.5" threadless, etc.) Hopefully it's compatible with either Cane Creek ZeroStack or Campagnolo Hiddenset, as those seem to be the easiest to find more than one of. Check Park's website, they have a listing on there somewhere of some of the more common headset non-standards. Might help in determining what you need.
ank youth ank youth ank youth...?
3 different sizes??? Ill be honest I dont know much about headsets but I thought it was just a 1.25 integrated headset... the bike is still listed on the BD website
http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/lechamp08.htm
dont think anything has changed.
