I'm going to try and ride the TOC Sausalito to Santa Cruz...at least the first half and back to the city...anyone interested Sunday Sports Basement 9am details later.

My wife is not feeling well again, so I just can't get out for a long ride. I may try to sneak a short one in some time this weekend, but that's about it :(.

We had the 11AM gig at the Store so I was heading down One between, say, 9:45.
I reached San Gregorio by around 10:15. Obviously, I wasn't on a bike :(

Actually I have it listed for Sunday...BUT! I'm changing it to next Sunday if the weather is ok.

Sorry guys, I am a bail on this one if it goes off this Sunday 1/25. I have come down with the chest cold from hell. I am home from work resting and my immune system is usually nails so I hope for a speedy recovery. That said, an epic like this would be too much too soon.

I am dying for a pedal to the metal ride with you guys soon though.

I grew up in Montara and have never ridden Hwy 1 between Pacifica and Montara.
I used to ride to Pacifica over the crumbling old coast highway to avoid auto traffic.

So is it Saturday January 24 or Sunday January 25?
I may do the early bird RR in Patterson on Saturday.

What's the most efficient way to get to SF from Svale? Foothill, Junipero Serra {fill in blank** Fort Funston, Great Highway to start.

I don't know exactly what route Pete has planned but I wanted to have some mileage figures in mind. Here are some approximate numbers from the Sports Basement. YMMV but hopefully these will be +/- 10 miles :)

Half Moon Bay: 36
Start of Tunitas: 44
Roberts in Woodside: 58 miles
Entire ride returning via Canada, etc: 94 miles

If I make it I'll be taking BART or Caltrain to SF, riding to the start, and then heading home after Roberts.

ps, are we meeting at 8am or 9am?

Taking the train up might be a better option, especially if Saturday is going to be a challenging day as well.

I can't ride AT ALL with my knee like it is. Even getting out in the rain would be more fun than sitting around wishing I could be out riding.

Just overuse I think. The temp/sunlight had me not commuting, so I was down to 1 or 2 long rides/week instead of 4 or 5 rides/week. It's really frustrating. I started riding from scratch in May, and put on 2500 miles before this popped up. :mad:

Anyway, the ride 2 weekends ago on Montebello/Redwood Gulch/Hwy 9 left me hobbling on Monday/Tuesday.

I tried to do a flat ride last weekend and had to turn around halfway.

My home-diagnoses is "patellofemoral pain syndrome". So I'm resting/stretching and trying some of the recommended PT exercises to prevent recurrence. I'm hoping to ease back in 2 more weeks on the 31st or the 1st.

I do ride up to the top of the Slide quite a bit, though.
Just did yesterday, in fact (and hit my personal best downhill speed: 45.9 mph)
But, after that, I turn around and head back home.

I need to buy a new plastic jacket for the rain. Maybe a helmet cover too.

I have a rain proof jacket and sporadic light showers won't keep me from riding.

However the winds might also be out of the south which would make for a not very fun ride down the coast :(

Yeah but mine tore right at the velcro strip on one side so either I stitch the entire thing again or buy another one.

Hey! It looks like I can join you for the start of the ride at Sports Basement (weather permitting). I have to end at 1pm so I can get to a New Year's family gathering. Year of the Ox, you know...

I am definitely riding one day this weekend since my last 125 miles have been flat commuting :notamused:

The weather forecast looks about the same for either day this weekend. I'd like to do Pete's ride on Sunday .. hopefully the rain doesn't scare too many people off. But if people are going to cancel on the Sunday ride then I'd just do something local to my house on Saturday instead.

I hope to do Pete's ride Sunday but have one eye on the weather (and the other eye is watching Alanis). The forecast is not that bad but not that good either and temps are on the cool side. I would take the train up, arriving at 8:36 and should be able to get to the Sports Basement by 9.

Saturday looks like a better day to ride. I have plans tomorrow to go into the city for some softball in the morning but that may get rained out. If so, I would like to ride locally (84, Skyline Palo Alto, Redwood City hills area). Or if some of you guys have a plan to ride tomorrow (silentben, bostic) I may just ditch the softball because I haven't ridden much lately. Keep me or us posted about tomorrow. Thanks.

Referring to BF rides for this weekend in general... not just Pete's ride.

Can't do the long Sunday ride (plus looks like rain), but I'll be in SF Sunday afternoon, and can do a shorter SF loop ride.

Also was thinking Sat morning Calaveras, Welch Creek, Niles Canyon and Mills Creek off Mission Blvd. If that's not enough, can possible add Sierra or Kilkare Canyon. Was going to do the loop from my house but if anyone's interested we can set a meeting location.

I'm doing the ride both days...I know that's insane, but there's a method to the madness, so anyone that cant' ride Sunday can join me Saturday for the same ride. Saturday I'll probably take the train back from Palo Alto and Sunday will be the "Full Monty!"

I have to redo the fenders for the bike and carry the 10mm wrench along in case of readjusting during the ride. Still have to decide on a ride. It would be nice to get Welch Creek off the to do list.
