Saw this and thought might be quick fun project to make into singlespeed or fixed.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/987896540.html

1. Is it worth it with the seat binder broken? I figure maybe I can find someone to repair but not sure $$
2. Is there anything else wrong with the frame that you all can see and I can't?

I think these were decent frames.. Tange Champion 1 or 2? Any more info would be of interest.

Not even sure if it's still avail but I thought I'd ask you eagle eyes to see if you can spot anything.

THanks guys

They were not bad bikes at all really...but probably not worth fixing IMHO. Tange made some really great tubing, #1 and #2 were akin to Columbus Alle and other seamed tubing. Slightly heavier, slightly less tensile strength, etc... but still good tubing. Just my opinion though, you would probably be better off saving the money you'd spend on a fix and putting into a frame that does not need to be fixed in the first place. You may want to call a couple of welders in your area, tell them what you want done and how many clams. If your thinking about having a framebuilder put on a new seat lug, you'd be looking at a couple of hundred bucks at least and most likely a rather long wait. Again..totally my opinion. I did not see anything else "odd" in the pics, but they are kind of small and fuzzy.

+1 Not worth messing with unless you can do the reweld yourself, or unless you need the fork and other parts.

My 86 Ironman is Tange 1 tubing, I'm fairly certain the later model Ironman I have is Tange 1 as well. (not at home so I can't look at the seat tube). BTW both Tange 1 and 2 are seamless.
