This is pretty much irrelevant to my season, since I won't be doing collegiate races this year, but I was looking at the ECCC calendar (http://collegiatecycling.org/eccc/wiki/index.php?n=Calendar.Current) (thinking about doing the USAC Cat 4 race for Grant's Tomb, which is my favorite crit ever) and saw no Beanpot on there! I do see something called the "X-Pot 3D," being run by Harvard and MIT, but I'm not sure what happened to Tufts. What's going on? Does anyone have the scoop? Is Beanpot defunct?

One cool thing on the schedule, though, is a lot more ITT action! Too bad I graduated, it looks like a better schedule than last year. Have fun, ECCC!

Yeah no Beanpot this year, MIT and Harvard have made an entirely no course which is very technical.

I am very happy w/ the ITT's for this season, gives some of us and easy chance to get some points.

Hey grolby!

Promoter of last year's beanpot road race here. We've met before on the bike as well I think.

Though I'm no longer involved (have to graduate at some point, I guess) the schools made the decision to change things for two reasons- variety is the spice of life and the costs associated with having an annual race in a densely populated area. I am sure other promoters run into this problem- the longer you have a race in one spot, the more the town realizes that they can squeeze you by adding more details, etc. It wasn't looking possible from the bottom line. I am sure whatever they come up with this year will be great!

Going to miss the Dartmouth race, that was fun...

thanks Shane!! I had a great! time at last years Beanpot!

any race with 180 turns is sick, in my mind.

I did that race in the afternoon after a 40 mile RR in the morning, making the day just that much more epic and memorable.

thanks for your work and I'm sorry to see it gone from the schedule.

Hey Shane, we had a chat during the Men's C crit at UVM last year - we've met ;). Thanks for the clarification. I certainly understand that holding a race like Beanpot is difficult - it's a shame that it only became more difficult as time went on. I had a great time last year. It was a good race, and I just wish that I hadn't been so toasted that weekend. And of course, the C crit was a travesty we poor *******s caught behind Slim. See you at the races.
