I'm sitting here while my truck warms up before leaving for work. Temp outside is -20 w/o the wind. This is craziness, I hate it and dont mind telling you all either. Bitter cold weather sucks, just plain old sucks and I want it gone. I do not relish the thought of working today and dealing with all the cold related problems. Alright, I'm done, but I still hate it.

Be safe out there today everyone.

On the bright side, it should be 40 degrees warmer in a day or two..... yeah, up into the 20's!!!

I think I'm going with shorts, a short sleeve jersey and armwarmers at that point.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity.

I prefer to do my weather rants early. ;)

Yay.. go me. After the fooking flood in September, now my new tankless water heater froze, because the exhaust vent let the -18F cold air into the heater and burst the hot water pipe. Water all over the basement floor again. #!#$(%$%(^%^&$&(#$%#)@$@$@#)$^$%^(%$&$)@#%@#)$@#%^)$^(#(^$%@#$@)$@#$@)%@^$@%#&$%^&%)@($$^)#$*^$)*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While standing, waiting for the train this morning, I learned the value of my nice wool pants (worn wednesday) and flannel-lined cargo pants (yesterday)... because today I wore unlined jeans. Wow.

sorry to hear that scummer :(

I really need to ride but no way am I going out in this. While I think I have the gear to handle it, if I fell and got knocked out, I might die of exposure before I came to. Can't do it!

Boy I hate the trainer.

Hey, I've got two frozen water pipes in the kitchen ... so I'm cranking the heat for a while.

On the way home from work this morning I took these:

It was 29 below at our airport in Joliet (only a couple miles from me) this morning. What a god awful winter it's been. Thank god we're only getting snow tomorrow and not 1 inch of ice.

Coming out of the deep freeze in iowa. I believe it above 0 and warming to 30 tomorrow.

What kind of bike do you ride that requires a step ladder to get on?:D

The question is not about the stepladder but why the trainer? Would rollers be a better test of concentration from that height?

Burst pipes are the worst. So far so good this year. Unrelated note: my TV is definitely too small.

Hell... rollers on the floor is already tough enough.

It's some cheap POS that he insists on riding. Something about 3 seconds.

Anyhooo....it has these low rent bars that require him to put his arms on them. As a result he can't seem to look up high enough to watch his 5,000in TV so he deemed it necessary to elevate it onto a few end tables.

The setup is pretty secure though. Psimet got on top of it and made it sag enough that the tire rubbed the top of the table.

I haven't hit a scale since that last TT, but it's possible we may be within 15 pounds of each other. I was shooting for 180 by April, but could very well be down into the 170's. You just hang on right there, pal.

Well I mean you had so much you could lose too...I'm not surprised. :innocent:

I have no doubts you will end up lighter than me and still maintain your 20+ W higher threshold power as well. *****.

I think your statement was something to the effect of calling me chubby, and then telling me that I should be at your weight. Don't get mad at me for doing something about it!

In all seriousness, though, I doubt I'd get below 180 and stay there for any appreciable time period. I think I'd lose too much strength. I can already tell I've lost some. Just hoping the lower weight keeps the watts/kg in order.

Psimet2001
01-16-09, 04:24 PM
That's all that matters. I feel like a big wussy with my power output compared to everyone else, but my W/kg are still in the right ballpark.

....and I only called you chubby because I could...The thought of a skinny MJH2 is a scary one. You will not be a 4 for long. Your problem will be getting your teammates to the point where we can stick around long enough to give you leadouts.

Nah. I really lack the "endurance" part when it comes to endurance sports. It will be more of the same... me blowing up 65% of the way though, and then out sprinting the other dropped riders for 43 place.

Only, this year I may wear size medium bibs.

:D - I am close to "S" now. Actually I think they would fit, but I can't afford a second set of bibs right now.

I feel for you. Work is in one of the many parts of Des Plaines that flooded this fall, and we were all worried at Christmas when the water came up again.

The Chicago Sausage King for some reason comes to mind.

I'm fat too. It just means our kind (represent!) have a relative advantage on the flats. As long as we can come up with a commensurate amount of power that is. Still working on that part.

Ta. Off to the trainer.

im fat. you're fat. he's fat..........this reads like the WW meeting my lovely wife was mentioning to me tonight. sandbagging to this extreme in the middle of the most sever winter the midwest has seen is years is a bit girlish. that being said, i ate too much tonight and could be on the verge of fattness. later.
