Northern California - Which photo sharing site do you use?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Everyone seems to have their favorite site where they upload photos to ... which one is your favorite?

Photobucket and Picasa. I also have server space at a webhost where I can upload images to. I'm also trying jAlbum (http://jalbum.net/).

I have a few Picasa folders, but lately it's been Twitpic for anything I care to share.

yeah, same name. Though, I mostly complain about work. That's what twitter is for right?

I do like to twitter pics from rest breaks and whatnot when there's reception. leaves a virtual breadcrumb trail of where/when I was.

For one off pictures (like screenshots) I put them on image shack (http://www.imageshack.us/). It seems to have the lowest barrier to entry in that you don't need to sign up for an account and you can upload images straight from the front page.

For albums, I generate a web gallery using something like Picasa, gthumb, or Bibblepro and I upload them to a web server that I have shell access to.

I mostly put them on my own site which is running Coppermine.

Occasionally I use photobucket or flickr.

I forgot to mention, I have on my server space, Gallery2, Plogger, Zenphoto, and Pixelpost, small lightweight galleries, just to test them out.

I like Picasa. The thing that bugs me about Flickr is they limit your albums to three if you are on the free account. Picasa has unlimited albums.

Another good site: the revamped photoshop.com (https://www.photoshop.com/).

It has good basic (and free) editing tools, and you can easily import/export to Picasa and Flickr. I think it's 2Gigs free storage.

Here's a nice simple photo gallery that I contributed a bunch of hours to back when I ran my own web server at home. It's not fancy but it's easy to use if you run your own webserver. You basically use the filesystem directory structure to organize your photos and it automagically creates image thumbnails.

I've always hated PhotoBucket because it seems to compress the snot of of everything.
I'm a Flickr fan, but I pay for an account. Which you should all visit. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ccorlew/) Just cause. Or just peek at my random cycling photos in pile of stuff (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ccorlew/collections/72157604223991779/).

I use DotPhoto (http://www.dotphoto.com/) myself free unlimited storage.
But all the above work good.
Here is a link were you can check you're needs and it will give you a list of sites that meet it.
Online Photo Resource Guide (http://www.andromeda.com/people/ddyer/photo/albums.html)

Here is also one of my web pages with several camera related links for all needs.

For random throwaway imagevomit, I'll just upload to Imageshack. If it's something I care about and may want to link to again, I put it up on Photobucket.

I'd like to eventually set up my own domain for such things, though.

i've recently switched from foto time to zenfolio. imo, smugmug, zenfolio and pbase are the three most commonly used by photographers.
