Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Had an idea for a type of race...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What about this: A group of people find an abandoned parking lot somewhere, and set up a super tight, twisty course with both left and right hand turns. It would be either one person against the clock, or five people racing together. One long straight, and many hairpins, and even some sweeping turns. I think it would be a fun race, and nice and easy to do. Courses would be less than 1/2 mile. It would sort of be like a road course version of oval track racing. It sounds fun in my head, but what do you all think?

Make it a figure 8, and you've got a deal.

Screw the D cells. I'd like to use the 6 volt batteries. Should be done fixed (of course) 33:18 on 175 cranks, no brakes, and only with on hand at all times.

How bout, every lap you need to pick up a D-cell, then try to hit the leader with it.
Sounds like a derby to me. Beer, bikes and bodily harm.

Where do I stand with the wiffleball bat and knee highs? Don't tell me "on the street corner" either. I do not go to the office on weekends.
edit: added the necessary 'h' to 'whiffleball'...and then promptly removed it as my sources are unclear: www.whiffleball.org

But if you did, we could have many events in one, drawing both cyclist enthusists and lesbian midget johns who like to dominate.

Do your own leg work. Sorry buddy, you are a good friend and all, but you need to go out and find your own 'love interests'...all by yourself. We can't do your work forever.

Anchors away, my boy... anchors away.
Isn't the figure 8 idea from an old matchbox car game called "Criss Cross Crash". That would be so rad!

Hmm, sounds painful :) Or how about, start at the top of a big multi-story lot and roll down to the bottom, turn round an insanely tight hairpin, then head back up. 6-up, fixed gears, no brakes, and leave all the cars driving around to make it super-scary :D

i think it sounds a lot like a short, closed course criterium race, kinda like what the sprintclub guys are doing in rva. i say go for it.
