Needs tires and tubes, tune up and a saddle, but 200 still sounds like a good deal to me in Los Angeles

from what i can find on these bikes online this looks like a pretty great bike , and exactly the size and features I'm looking for.

from the listing:

'85 nishiki riviera gt, 55cm c-c, 27" araya rims, sugino triple cranks, 6spd cassette, shimano deore front derailer, lapeer triple rear derailer, dia compe v-brakes, dia compe brake levers, and it's got all the little buddies you need to attach fenders and a rack etc.

what yall say?

Go for it. A new touring bike is $1000. With some works and a few extra bucks, you can have something just as dependable and roadworthy.

Looks like with a bit of work it could be a real nice touring bike. If you search around, there are a few threads on here about the Riviera GT.

Given you are in LA, if it fits, I would jump all over it.

I got it! yeah!

perhaps due to the fact I ride pretty old cheap bikes, but this bike is awesome, fits like a dream I can't wait to ride the crap out of it, now for a rack and a couple of panniers and I am off

Where ya goin?

But, yeah, by the mid- to late-80's, the Japanese were producing some top-notch bikes.
