I am looking at new pedals for the Waterford.

Looking at either Campy Chorus Profit Plus or Speedplay X2.

Really not much info about the Campy pedals other than the cleats tend to wear quickly. But they would match the rest of the bike.

Speedplay - dirt in cleats - how bad really? How quickly do the pedal bodies wear causing canting?

Any opinions?

I've ridden Speedplay for years and I love them. I have an old set of X/2 that I could send you as a backup set or for another bike you might have if you needed them.

I have two sets of speedplay zeros. I love the pedal although only being my second type of clipless. I have spd on my mountain and old road bike. What I like about the zeros is that you can dial in amount of float that you want. I like the larger amount of surface area compared to the spd's also. Until I bought my cleat covers (which I recommend) for the speedplays, I always walked on my heels. I just don't want to wear out my cleat. $40 a pair is a bit expensive.

Another option... I've heard nothing but good things about Shimano Ultegras. They can be had for $86 (w/ free shipping) over at Probikekit.com.

I like my Look Keos, but if buying over, I think I'd go with the Ultegras for longer cleat wear.

i'll add another recommendation on speedplay's. what disadvantages there are to the cleats are negated by the fact that the pedal is double-sided. always a nice feature to have.

I owned Speedplays for all of three weeks before returning them. Quality was there, I just could not get used to the amount of float and clipping in and out of them. Went to Ultegra's and am happy as can be with them

+1

I have no experience with Speedplays (way too much float for me). I have a friend that's had them for years and swears by them. As for me -- I've got Ultegra SL's. I have the fixed cleats (red), but they come with a 6º float cleat (yellow). I love em'

I like, and have used Look pedals. KEO, 386's, A5's. Even the Shimano's, I think, are made on the Look platform. I like the pedal surface area, and cleats are really inexpensie especially if you purchase them on EBay. I have SPD's sitting around at home. Tried them once, and have not gone back.

I don't even know if the Campy Pro-Fit pedals are made anymore. Nobody really uses them, that's for sure.

Thanks for all the replies.

I decided to go with the Campy pedals. They are 2009 pedals. Got them from Licktons.
