Howdy,

I'm shopping for my first CycloX bike. Just reading reviews at this point and for bikes priced at around 1g I've got it narrowed down to the Trek XO1, the Jamis Nova and the Kona Jake the Snake. Before I head out to track down shops that might have these to test ride, anyone got any advice/reviews for any of these? I appreciate any info you can offer.

Thanks,
Moose1

all good bikes. i ride a major jake frame with mostly campy centaur parts, but one of my racing buddies has the 2004 jake the snake and loves it. it's about the best frame -- certainly the most raceable -- of the three you mention. the nova frame is steel, which is nice, but it's a bit heavier than the jake, and the triple would not be ideal if you plan on racing. the trek x0-1 is way downspecced for the price, and the frame is nothoing special. also look at the fuji cross.

Might want to look at the Cannondale CX I think it is $1100 US. Best thing is to ride as many of these as you can before u pick which one u want.

My girlfriend just got a 04 Lemond Poprad for 900. Add pedals and other accessories. It's 853 steel and full 105 I don't think you can beat that for the price. It's a damn nice ride.

Those a pretty good bikes. I, however will never ride Cannondale again. I just sold my road bike and will never buy their products again due to extremely poor customer service. As for CycloX, I rode a VERY old Redline Conquest Pro. I hammered the crap out of that thing and recently got a good bit of chain suck which evidently caused a fracture 95% around the chain stay. My buddy called up Redline and told them that the frame about about 100,000 year old and they told him that they would replace my old frame with a 2004 just to keep me on a Redline frame. I never expected to hear that... and the frame rides< obviously, a lot better than the old frame.

I don't understand your reply? The Poprad is made by Lemond which I believe is a subsidary of Treck now? It has a lifetime warenty on the frame...
