I promise to stop gushing over this, but I brought my new baby home this evening.

I took her for a spin around the neighborhood and....

I'm now Big, Fat and Rigid:thumb: And the bike is pretty cool too;)

Now see, that's purty!:thumb:....Much better in photos than the link pic you posted. Much cleaner looking paint job!

You cannever gush too much about a new bike. We need first ride pics, second ride pics, rider riding pics, poseur pics and pics sitting under a tree pics!:D

Dude (heavy emphasis on the "D" long trail on the "ude")

That bike looks SO different in person (okay picture in the den, but you know what I mean). I love it, however you will have to grow the appropiate ponytail (I already have mine) plus the "Love Beads" (still have them stashed underneath my waterbed) if you are to ride that bike in public. BTW can you find Birkenstocks for clipless pedals?

Seriously though, that bike looks sharp! I would not mind parading around town on it.

No such thing as "too much gushing" over a new bike.

I really really like it. I like it so much I may have my next "keeper" rebuild faded in three bright colors. I have a Miyata with no braze ons that is a perfect fixed candidate.

I like it. Guinea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea) flag colors too:

I went out and rode last night at midnight. My favorite time to ride. I cruise the bars and watch the annihilated's exit strategies. Sad but entertaining.

The 29" thing is different. Not that I ever felt "unstable" on the Rainier, but the "increased stability" is stunning. Hills were my biggest surprise. Steep hills that I would normally have to attack as soon as the incline hit, were completely different. The attack started much deeper into the incline and it seem like it ended as soon as it began. I have one hill in particular near the house that I have to stand on to get up and it becomes steeper about half way, causing me to normally have to drop a couple gears on the attack. I climbed it twice last night and neither time did I drop, and I am convinced the climb time was really reduced (faster climb). The disclaimer though, is that it may have been adrenalin rush of the new toy:love: But, the ride had a different overall feel. More powerful, more in control, meatier

Now, the downer: My wife came into my office a few minutes ago and looked at my bike and said "Huh? It looks like your other bike with different paint" :twitchy: Arrrrghhh! :twitchy: She just doesn't understand;)

I take it she doesn't ride? It's not surprising then. I work with someone who can't tell the difference between my Trek 7.5 and a Wal-mart Huffy.

Your wife and mine should do lunch some time as it sounds like they have a lot in common; I get that type of response a lot.

I guess I've been outside shooting to much to keep up. So where did you get her at? OK, I see the P Cycle decal now. E-mail please!

Are you going to keep the knobbies or go with some street slicks?

I've searched and found out what you have been hiding from me! Know I know where I'm going to spend my share of the tax refund on!

Going to see Doug tomorrow afternoon!

Hi Jerry,
Not for sure yet. These are 80# Kenda's. I have them at 78# and they roll pretty nice. I would rather take a beating then to change a tire. just not my bag. I am considering investing in a 2nd set of wheels, cogs and street tires. We will see.

This worked out pretty sweet. Doug gave a nice trade-in on my Rainier, and I sold some of my whitewater and camping gear (extra things I have not used in years) and ended up in the new bike with an extra $300 in my pocket :D

Doug did give me a nice deal, but the reality with him and Dave, is that the after service is well worth paying list.

Jerry,

Start to experiment with your Air Pressure. The Volume of the 29r tires will allow you to run much less and get BETTER control on the trail.

I always run about 40# on Trail. He was asking me about Street use. This is my only bike (now) and I am considering a second set of streets for road riding.

I hear ya on the lower pressure on the more tech stuff. Good advice. Thanks
