hi there,
has any one here now about the 1050watt cyclone kit, from a customers point of view...
i know that the parts are cheap, like the motor mount and things like that..
but apparently the motor itself + the controller, throttle are good quality
ive just been offered a brand new kit for $550.00 aus delivered...is it worth it or not
or any helpful advice as for what to look out for...
its a 48v system...so how would 4x 12v 14amp sla batts go with this kit,i can guess it will be heavy
thanks for your time

I think someone on endless sphere explains how he rigged one up on his bike.

1050 watts? that's a little odd. Why not just 1000? Anyway I wouldn't even attempt to use such a powerful motor, unless you are planning to use a motorcycle. I don't think there is a bike out there that could handle it. I could be wrong though.

Apparently you have neglected to take into consideration the cool drifting and doughnut possibilities allowed by more powerful motors. :)
Chicks dig that....right Raevyn?

I've been looking at this 1. Is 50W worth a couple hundred?

I would guess at that price it may be a Goldenmotor, which is on the lower end of the quality scale, although I have a friend that has used them for the last 5 years. One did fry a coil when an internal wire shorted, but they sent him a new one.
If you want to cruise 20 mph up even mild inclines, you'll want at least a 36v35 or 40a controller and motor set-up. 600 to 1000 watts will keep you moving right along.

yeh i just got off the phone to the guy that supply cyclone electric bike products in australia.
he said that he stopped selling the 1000 & 1050watt motors,
because the controllers that come in the kits cant handle the motor....
i also think 1050watt sounds odd, whats even weirder,+ confusing is that he said that the motors where really 3000watt,but advertised as 1000 or 1050watts,try and figure that one out,but thats why he reckons the controllers blow...he said the 1200watt motors are more compadible with the 1000watt kits
so i thought either im not getting the point,or he doesnt know himself what he really is talking about
anyway out of all this, its put me off cyclone......
so now im looking at crystalyte kits
cheers

If you plan on getting that, plan on only using the hubmotor. Everything else is junk. I own a golden motor myself. Had to replace the rim, throttle, and controller. Actually, I am selling it if you are interested. I can't commute 40+ miles a day on a DF with my neck, so I am starting a recumbent prodject. It's only 500 watts, though. I am currently running it at 36v but the controller I have is ready for 48.
