Seen a Fuji Sagres on ebay being sold near me, so I made arrangements for a test ride. Just got home. It was a 23" frame (58.4 cm). Just plain not big enough. Being a newby and searching for my first road bike it was nice to have the chance to test ride. Since I am shopping the used market the learning is slow. Like me I guess!

I think it would have been a great first road bike for me. The seller had cleaned and regreased all bearings, new tires and bar tape on it.

Looking for a 60/62cm!

It is important to get a good fit, so that was good of you to pass. I like the older steel frames. I've got a couple of Trek 25.5" bikes--a 460 and a 620. Some large steel frames can be a little flexy under heavy loads. A touring bike with slightly heavier tubeset such as Tange Champion #2 can work better than a super light duty frame. If you aren't sure, before you go to take a look, post a question on the Classic and Vintage board and you'll get a quick answer as to the frame of a given bike and how well suited it will be for you.
