Fifty Plus (50+) - SGNO Cycling Products

Anyone here have experience ordering from SGNO Cycling Products? Good, bad or indifferent? Some feedback and / or color is appreciated! I've also posted this on the Road Forum. Thanks to my 50+ compatriots for any information you can provide.

I thought I had bought from everyone but I'm not familiar with SGNO.

That would be the place! Some excellent prices, but don't need to make a purchase & then find out too late it WAS, in fact, too good to be true. :notamused:

I just clicked through to the link above -- this website is a "storefront" that runs on software provided by a division of eBay. I would guess that the goods are provided by an eBay seller who wants to run his/her own website, and they use this software to do that.

That's neither good nor bad; just explains how an unheard-of store can pop up with a selection of merchandise.

I also checked out the "about us" link. No physical address. No "customer help" explaining how you would contact them for customer service. Nothing about returns. Etc. etc.

Personally I never purchase from anyone online unless it's well established brand I know or I can figure out where the company is based. If I want the eBay experience / prices / transaction issues I think it's simpler just to purchase on eBay.

I know this comes months late, but wanted to let you know I was extremely satisfied with my recent purchase from SGNO Cycling. First, let me say I do most of my lurking on Slowtwitch, but only ocassionally, but wanted to pass the word for those interested.

Like the OP, I was concerned about buying from SGNO Cycling, but with a few keystokes on Google, you can find out who runs SGNO Cycling LLC, where he works out of, and how active he is in the cycling community. You can even see his photo. Also, his record as an eBay seller is solid.

Anyway, I was looking for a new set of Zipp racing wheels (not sure how y'all feel about Zipps on this forum). I prefer racing Tri's on my Zipp 650c wheels, but manufacturers aren't paying as much attention in this market (e.g., can't get Veloflex Record tubulars in 650c anymore and all the other tubulars are not to my liking), so I'm forced to go to 700c. I decided that if I'm going to throw down big bucks on wheels, I may as well get the 2009 Zipps with the improved hubs (adjustable preload, larger diameter axles, and stronger, more durable bearings -- anyway, that's what Zipp claims). I've searched eBay and all the webstores I could find. I wanted a mismatched set -- 404 in the front and 1080 in the rear, kind of a compromise between aero and lightness.

Long story short, SGNO Cycling (Dave) gave me far and away the best deal. Since no one offered a 404/1080 combination, I could have asked SGNO to put it on eBay for my protection, but after doing a little homework on the web, I felt I could trust Dave to work the transaction outside of eBay. Also, since there are no eBay fees to pay, that can help sweeten the deal for both sides if you know what I mean ;) Got the wheels in today and I couldn't be more pleased. Expensive, yes, but gotta tell ya, some people are paying about as much on eBay for 2008 wheelsets. Dave was extremely responsive to my emails throughout and I know I'll deal with him again. Hope this helps.

Went to the web site and 2 things bother me ALOT. #1 No physical address listed at all. Some clue about where it is as CT tax is charged to residents. #2. A GMail email address? Are you kidding me. Sure I will send them my credit card for # a $1500 set of wheels, when pigs fly. Some prices seem good but not great to me.

Also selection is thin. Clothing section only brings up a pair of socks!

Thanks jppe for the welcome! I just realised this is the 50+ forum -- gosh, so many different forums you have here, Slowtwitch has only a handful. I'm a few months shy of 49, I guess I'm out of order :)
