Riding a bike on a day like today seems like cheating.
I guess we earned it....
Yup, great riding up in Whatcom county today too. My only complaint is all the gravel and sand that they threw on the roads during the big snowstorm. It all seems to end up in the shoulder and bike lanes. Oh well, can't complain too much I guess...

Foggy, overcast, 27° in Kittitas County--forecast pretty much the same for the rest of the week. Going to Tacoma Wednesday and plan on taking my bike so I can get in a few miles.

I went out yesterday from about 3:30pm to 5pm. It was still cold, but warmer than it was earlier. What was funny is the fog rolled in on the way back. Then I had some dam dogs chase me, 2 different times. One dog chased me for almost a mile. Anyway, a great ride and I finally got to ride my new 10 speed components. I thought that it was great to have extra trim in the front so if I wanted to ride in big and almost big, it could trimmed so it would not hit the front derailleur. 10 speed is just great. My 8 speed did not do that. I changed the bearings in my cranks to ceramic and they are smooth.

This morning's commute was 33 in Renton, 32 on the Honda dealer halfway up the Factoria hill, and 32 according to ForecaseFox here at work (Redmond). No wind to speak of (thanks for small favors), but deep breathing that icy air is uh...invigorating. Yeah, that's it. Invigorating.

Frost, ice, and thick fog on the plateau this morning.... makes me a slow boy on the bike. Am actually glad to have the leftover sand and grit on all the shoulders of the roads, it gives a little more traction. Add the bits of broken glass and broken tire chains to the mix, and am very glad to have the Armadillos on.

Yep, beautiful today. I was on the road about 6:45 am and saw that all the routes I take were swept, even a sidewalk connector! Well, except for Marginal Way. It was pea-soup fog though until I hit near the Duwamish. I couldn't see 1/2 block ahead of me for some time and the condensation on my glasses made it a little iffy. With no wind though, it was a nice fast ride! I see it's still a little foggy so the ride home should be just as good.

:notamused: OK I'm ready to be done with this.... there are few conditions worse to ride in than a thick, subfreezing fog! Roads are treacherous, visibility is bad, and between the ice and and my constantly fogging up glasses, every mile takes twice as long as usual. Folks in eastern Washington have had it worse, hope you all are riding safely over there. I'll take near zero temperatures (with a clear sky) over this! Wish I could get out for a ride during the day when the sun's out.
Edit: Looks like a change ahead, maybe the snow will be coming back over the weekend.

What is this thing you call sun? I have no memeory of this because here in the Valley of the FOG there is nothing but grey crud in the air. Yeah SNOW this weekend that's just swell. Looks like I'm gong to have to double up on the anti depressants. :(

Tell me about it, I take the lane most of the time.

Interestingly, the city of SeaTac appear to have swept the roads AND main sidewalks. Where I am, in unincorporated King County, there is still grit an inch deep in the bike lanes and on the sidewalks.
I am not happy about the grit  .

Easthill I don't even think I can ride that far. I'm still having problems with the Achilles. I'm standing on concrete all day and after that they start to ache by the time I get home. I'm doing stretches and trying to strengthen them muscles around my ankles and in the legs but I don't know what to think. Its been a really hard winter on my legs and feet so far.

It really stinks for sure. I was grilling some steaks in the garage this evening ( I had the door open) and I was looking at all our bikes thinking I wish I could get out and take a nice long ride. Hopefully I will be ok in the next month or so I want to start out riding to work just to get in bike shape a little for the nice weather if it ever comes.

(Sigh) We almost had some nice weather over here but I had to work that day and my leg is still numb anyway. (pass the anti depressants)
The good news is that a friend of mine from Genie said he's gonna do the TdC this year. It will be nice to have a friend or two in the pack! (Weather permitting of course)
