Road Cycling - *Good* police and pedestrian story.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was out for my morning ride and was approaching this intersection with 4 traffic cops directing traffic and a line of school kids about to cross the street. As I approached, I slowed and was getting ready to twist my foot off the SPD's when one of the cops saw me, probably though in her head that it would be easier just to let me by than have me unclip and wait, put her hand up to the line of kids, looked at me, smiled, and actually said, "sorry" and waved me through. I gave her the biggest THANK YOU I've ever given anyone on the road!
isn't that refreshing when things on the road actually work to our advantage?
I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago but instead of children it was police directing traffic in front of one of the area's biggest churches on sunday (a traffic mess).
the officer saw me approaching, yelled to the other officer and they stopped the traffic just so I could go by. I gave out one of those big thanks you's then you can bet.
it was especially nice since the church is in the middle of a hill climb, didn't really want to stop for anything.
props for the cops :D
It's sad to think those officers are probably cyclists too and that's why they understand but no one else seems to care or understand.
Its a bike thing... you wouldn't understand.
I think I need a jersey with that on it.
