Any ideas on a route from Plainview (Eastern Nassau) to midtown (GM Building) across from the Plaza hotel and Central Park?

I want to start riding to work in the warmer months if I can

"LIE Service rd?"

The service road is not continuous through Queens. I believe it ends near Woodhaven Blvd, which you can take ( North 1 or 2 Blocks) to Queens Blvd. Take Queens Blvd. all the way to the 59St. Bridge.

That would be a pretty impressive commute, let us know how it works out.

That commute sounds scary. Good luck and god speed.

Despite its annoying nature, the L.I.E. service road may be your best best, at least until Cross Island Parkway.
Best you get a NYC Cycling map and follow along . . .
From where the service road climbs up past the Cross Island, turn left on 233rd St., and eventually onto the 73rd Avenue Bike lane, eventually onto Jewel Ave, into Flushing Meadow Park, and out on 111th Street. Go up to 34th Avenue, and take the 34th Avenue bike lane, and follow that route to the QB Bridge.
