For me, not a blasted thing to do with tomorrow, which is just another day. I'm just fed up with the daughter. She has a major attitude problem tonight.

This is much more fun than what I'm supposed to be doing on my laptop.

I'm a big believer in structured procrastination (http://www.structuredprocrastination.com/) . I just need to try harder to get my priorities sorted out...

PS - yes I'm glad about tomorrow's events, but I'm honestly more concerned to see what happens from Wednesday onwards; these are tough times.

Well I am excited about tomorrow, and still pinching myself. Unfortunately, the world will probably not change. But a very special man is about to become President. Obama has tapped into his potential, achieving his superstar that we all have but only a few seem to realize. So hopefully that will be inspiration for me to reach my potential, which I have decidedly had no interest in for too long.

Is this the NorCal version of the what's up thread? Or maybe we should have just said, what's on your mind? Mindless, fruitless babling ... am I being coherent? Is this chatty enough?

blah blah blah .... like, oh my god!

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.......There's nothing in the street that looks any different to me.

Jaded already, Ron?! I ended up seeing ~40mins; they webcast the inauguration at work. I was impressed - he gave a nice speech. Hopefully people can take something from this and do some good, it's what happens next that will be the real measure.

BTW - sorry chaps, but as a Brit, I heard Aretha Franklin do strange things to "God Save the Queen" again. I still can't get past that ;)

I'm not a big fan of Aretha Franklin's rendition of "My Country Tis of Thee" either.

I was too mesmerized by the bow to pay attention. Ma, Perlman, Montero, and Mcgill, on the other hand, were terrific!

Apparently she isn't either. She just said on Larry King that the extreme cold did it to her voice.

i was in San Mateo court on Tuesday morning and we watched it on a MAC that they had up there....lol they held us back 45 minutes so everyone, including the judge, could just sit and watch the inauguration lol

i was guessing that was the case. She just didn't sound 100%.

Looks like they were good because it was a tape. The instruments couldn't bear the cold either. It was impossible to have all of them in tune under the conditions. The artists didn't even dare get their own instruments out, they played on their 'beater' cello and violin.

It wasn't so much any crackles in her voice, it's all the vocal embellishments (or whatever they're called). Myyaiyai Country tis a theeyeeyee.

Of course, I'm certainly not saying anyone who does that can't sing, and I'm definitely not saying that Aretha Franklin can't sing, but that kind of thing gets overdone a lot, and it can be pretty annoying.

Nope. She's the Queen of Soul.
Now, all that extra noise some singers do is indeed annoying (Mariah Carry types)
But Aretha Franklin? Ahhhhhhh.

In the words of the greatest band ever named for a *****:

Hey nineteen
Thats 'Retha Franklin
She don't remember
The queen of soul
Its hard times befallen
The sole survivors
She thinks I'm crazy
But I'm just growing old

Hey nineteen
No we got nothing in common
No we can't talk at all

 Only BF can bring you the concept of a beater violin -- nothing worse than having to wipe down winter salt and grit from a strad.
