This is a tandem bike, estimated to be from the 1930's, made by Colson.
His and her seating, gears, light and more.

Collectors and those intersted in refurbishing classic bikes will have an interest in this.

Bike needs a little attention to be restored as rear handle bar is loose, light needs to be connected, etc...

Hate to part with it, just takes up too much room. Was ridden just a few weeks ago and still works fine. Local pick up only, Alpharetta/ Milton.

Here's another link on a restored version of this tandem: http://www.nostalgic.net/bicycle166.htm

1940's Colson, Tandem

This months Bicycle of the Month is a Colson Tandem. It features dual horn tanks (not original but they look cool!)and "steer from the rear" configuration which allows you to ride on the rear seat and steer the bike which looks mighty strange when you have no front passenger! This is accomplished by two small sprockets with chains and long rods. A smooth looking bike and a restoration well done by Bob Usasi.
Year: 1940's Brand: Colson Manufacturer: Colson Bicycle of the Month: June 2001

The rear steering feature looks like a simple yet intriguing application. :p

Rear steering tandems seem to show up every so often. That blue 1940s Colson is a real classy looking machine!

Yep, specifically because of that blue one I've been idly wondering if that red one in Atlanta would be worth all the trouble to have someone pick up and bring up to try to restore. There are other Colson tandems listed for thousands and it looks like it would be a lot of fun to tool around on.

Don't know that it is a Colson but I do have an old tandem just got enought parts together it ride it this weekend and rode it for the back, probaly the first time to have been rode since Dad took it apart 45 years ago, when I was the only one who loved riding it then.
