I just bought a late 70's schwinn super le tour(converting into a fixie). the frame is in good shape, there is no rust, but cosmetically it could be better. i want to remove what's left of the decals. also, there are spots that are foggy looking. i don't know if that is old clear coat or spots where the clearcoat has come off. i'd like to put the mirror shine back in this bike. what should i do?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Lee

if its clear coat use paint stripper to remove whats left of it. the decals should come off with goo gone and heat if vinyl, or just scrape them off with a credit card or something if they are water transfer. clean the frame with warm soapy water, dry well, polish with neverdull or mothers mag wheel polish, wax with auto wax

Whatever you do, do not use steel wool or any other abrasive (like sandpaper) on the chrome.

When in doubt, test on an area like the bottom of the bb shell before moving on to visible areas.
