BOULDER, Colo. – A woman escaped serious injury and refused medical treatment after a cow knocked her down and walked on her legs. Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks ranger Pete Taylor said the woman was riding her bicycle along the South Boulder Creek Trail on Monday when she encountered the cow and stopped to let the animal cross.

Instead, the cow knocked the woman over and stepped on her legs.

Taylor said the woman wasn't seriously hurt. Her name was not released.

The cow had left the area by the time rangers arrived, but other people warned fellow bikers and hikers on the trail about the animal.

Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance vice president Jason Vogel called the incident "odd, rare and random."

Maybe the cow was a victim of "sleeping cow-tipping" and wanted to get even. :)

Seriously though, I can't help but think that a person standing/striding a bicycle would appear to a cow (bull or dear) as another beast posing a challenge or a threat...

.

Water Buffalo! During one of my trips, I stopped to contemplate and photograph a herd and guess what? The dominant male invested towards me! Luckily there was a fence and a 4 m deep canal with bit of water in the bottom that stopped the beast to reach is goal!

^ You must've made quite an impression! He was probably forced to protect his harem from a strange imposing male beast with peculiar round legs and no tail! :)

Here's a killer kow I ran into last month, hanging around the desert, obviously looking for trouble, probably looking for some coyotes to mug.

Most domesticated bovines are pretty timid. Even bulls are generally quite placid, but once I was walking along a country road and was pretty much menaced by a Hereford bull that was really insane. He was storming along on the other side of a low hedge, bellowing at me and spraying strings of spit over the hedge and raking it with his horns. He followed me about 75 yards doing this mentalist act. I think he'd have killed anyone that came into the field.

Strange male I agree, imposing, not so much! Poor little me, I would never discuss my malewood with a buffalo's malewood !...

Was the cow`s name released? I remember a "killer cow" from my youth. Of course the animal had the same name as me.. Almost broke the vet`s arm (cow, not me). I told him to be careful but he knew better of course..

Once I was attaced by two badgers early one morning, riding a 10 speed to the bus. They played in the road and ran into the gras when I arrived. There was this small hill down, animals in the bottom and then a small hill upp on the other side. I wanted to use the "free speed" from going fast down the hill. The animals did maybe think this was some sort of attac from my side. They turned around and came for me. Luckily I had the speed so I just lifted my feet up an missed them by an inch. Then peddaling like hell up the hill..:eek:

The scariest cows I ever encountered (and yes I'm a city boy from NY, NY) had big horns and they were running loose on the sand by the Kelso dunes in the Mojave desert in CA. It was very hard and slow slogging through that soft sand, but somehow those big guys were able to fly right over it. I thought that if they decided they wanted to eat me I'd be a gonner.

This goofy thread reminds me of a Gary Larson cartoon.
