New to Biking - Trek vs. Specialized

My wife and I are planning to get into recreational biking and know almost nothing. We've looked at the Trek 7200 & 7300, as well as the Specialized Cross Roads.

We're likely to be weekend riders for the most part, with maybe a short jaunt after dinner some night.

What are your opinions regarding the models we've looked at, or others?

Both the Trek and the Specialized are about the same on quality and use the same drive components. Both are about the same price. The best thing to do is to test ride each one, and make your decision based on how one or the other fits, which LBS treats you better, and price.

Both are excellent brands with excellent company backing. Check out Trek Navigators, 7000 series hybrids, Specialized Sirrus, Expeditions, Crossroads series. All nice comfort bikes.

I have a Trek 7500FX hybrid bike that I love.
