Saw a specialized Langster for sale yesterday. It looked like a nice bike and was wondering if it was worth the purchase. Does anyone know anything about this bike. I wouldnt care if the components werent that great as long as the fram was solid.

A friend just bought one. Nice compact geometry and the frame is solid. Nice fixer. At about $400 I think it's a great deal. Components are not too shabby either...

I have one as well. Seat definitely has to go. Had a bad experience with a stripped hub on the back that was my own dumb fault. Other than that its a nice solid frame, if you like the aluminum ride.

What kind of hub is on it?

I just bought a Langster today (May 18th '04) and took it for a 50 mile ride (laps in Central Park).

It is an awesome bike, I'm getting a new saddle though (the stock saddle squeaks too much and is uncomfortable) and maybe clipless pedals later on when I can afford them.

The bike store salesman said Specialized isn't making anymore Langsters ever though, so that sucks, because it's awesome.

see my post in other langster thread for vague but somewhat reassuring response from specialized customer service re: availability.
